If anyone in ANY career was only making 12% of the total profit to a company, when that person was the MAIN reason the money comes in and all, that person would quit on the spot.

The music industry has a stranglehold on every musician and band that isn't already established.

The saddest part is probably that we don’t get many classic-eligible albums anymore.

Streaming is making people think all modern music is trash

This is why I refuse to sign up for streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. I may need to pay a little more for downloads or physical copies, but at least it’s a better way to support the artists making my favourite songs

I made an entire 8 page essay on this subject for my 8th grade writing class, so you can say that I definitely have an opinion on this subject.

Thanks for making this video. I'm getting tired of people saying "streaming has made music better than ever, you can listen to dozens of albums a day", while it's true that more music is easier to obtain, it doesn't make up for all the negatives that have happened due to it. People that are blindly advocating streaming are actively ruining the medium without knowing it

As a musician my self music streaming frustrates me it’s something that realy excites me as it makes it so much easier for people to find my music but at the same time it terrifies me cause if people have access to pretty much all music at the push of a button why would they bother listening to me hell how would they notice me at all when there’s so many other bands and artists out there especially when it’s all the terrible ones that get the spotlight and even if they do I’m gonna make no money from it I mean no I don’t do it for. Money I don’t cause I love music but that’s not the point I’d love music to be my job full time one day but I’d get nothing from putting my music out there and where I live none of the local Venus actually pay artists unless there relatively established and being people in to watch

I want to share this little story I had written on for you.

The first video I've ever watched from you is your 7 biggest problems on today's pop music, and ever since then, I've beginning to enjoy your content more and more, since you are completely genuine and passionate towards your content in general.

Not only that, but you've also got into many types of music and it quickly became my passion alongside with drawing down my creativity.

Anyways, this is all I have to say.

I carry a CD player w/ me now. Of only because I'm tired of downloading songs. I realize how pretentious that statement may sound, but IDK I've just always preferred buying physical music. I also enjoy hearing an album track by track a lot more instead of a random shuffle. You made a lot of fantastic points here Jon! Keep up the awesome content.

Wow this is such a great video. I definitely learned a lot from it and glad that you both (Jon & Hannah) shared this project. Streaming is definitely here to stay, but I wish there was a way that more genres can be recognized

Yeah john thanks for speaking up, I have recently hit more than 90 CDs, and 16 cassettes
Digital is very different, it's not something YOU own, u don't hold it in your hand, no cover art or lyrics,
It's in the screen

yes, some things are / have been changing rapidly... i have always collected cd's from my favourite artists and now i got a turntable for my 18th birthday, which means i can support my beloved bands / artists even through buying records!! plus, i love attending concerts of course! but i can also totally understand that people enjoy having their favourite music at their finger tips 24/7.

This video is fantastic! Really well done! I always pre-order albums and buy merch. If I love an artist a lot then I’ll pay to see a show. I do it to show my support for the artists I love. Also because it’s fun to collect records and CD’s!!

I think the streaming services does not only affect badly the artist on a monetary level, they also change the way we consume music. Before, you needed to go to a place and use money to buy albums at music store. When you are too young to have a job(me), you need to economise to buy cd. This make me crave the cd I want and when I finally own it, I feel lucky to have it and I appreciate it more. After several years of buying cd, I discovered that i prefer the music I bought myself to the music my parents already had in their collection. When using spotify, it is like taking music for granted. I am seriously afraid of the future of the music industry.

Great job, Jon! (And Hannah, too!) Great editing and production, and GREAT content! I agree with you 100% on this one. For better or worse, though, streaming is here to stay. I just hope something will happen to help artists get their fair share in a way listeners will support.

Also I really like to collect CD's and support my favorite artists. I think that the trend of record players and vinyls will help the artists if it continues to be something that people like to own.

Now that I know Apple Music pays more per listening to the artists, I'll keep on subscribing to Apple Music and not Spotify.
