This format is nice for bigger, more hyped games such as Scythe. When I see new DTR videos now, I will know that when the review and gameplay videos are separate, I can expect a really involved discussion. Nice job, Joel! (Still on the fence about the game, though.)

Thumbs up on the new Format. Good to split them up, this also give a good chunk of time for thoughts. Better than a 20 minute rule overview and then 2 minutes of a review. (Not that that was the case on this channel, but that is a problem for some reviews)

Great review! I generally love your reviews and I've been waiting for your thoughts on this. I have the same feelings exactly with you on this game... and I do love this game. It's phenomenal. So many great things going on and a more "euro"-ameritrash hybrid. Definitely something that I lean more toward and one of the hybrids that I finally gravitate toward based on my preferences.

Keep up the great reviews Joel! Love your opinions on games and, maybe, when we're both able to make it to GenCon next time... I won't be such a tool and talk to you in-perosn when I had the chance. Keep up that great work!

Thanks for this review. Although I'm a professed boardgame junkie I didn't jump on the initial hype machine. I'm feeling a little "didn't buy, buyers remorse" today with all the blinged copies, and reviews now on the web, but I think the base game will be more than enough to satisfy my acquisition needs.

I think this review is one of the best Scythe reviews! Thank You! I do enjoy watching your reviews. What edition did you have? I was wondering does the retailer edition include traits?

I think Polonia (white) is much more powerful at a lower player count, due to their special power with encounter cards.  They are going to get more with a lower player count.  Combine that with the Submarine Mech technology and I have found they win more often at low 2 or 3 player counts.

I like Scythe, but I think labeling it a 4X game is somewhat misleading.

It does get a lot of praise for the solo possibility, any thoughts on that Joel? Because I play most games solo or with my partner. There are some game groups I can bring it, but 1 and 2 would be my preferable sweet spot.

Is Terra Mystica an overall more complex and better game than Scythe?

Is it really that lackluster with only 2? 90% of my games are just the wife and I. We live Viticulture with just 2, and I would like to try this

Yeah,  there is a downside to having lots of open information in regards to scoring. Maybe that's why you don't have to tell people how much money you have.
