Loved this review mate. Makes me excited to also re-read Oathbringer with fresh eyes.

Okay so now that I have finally finished my re-read I figured it was time to watch this and idk how I feel, Ben. I mean, you were not *invested* while reading a Stormlight book? Sounds impossible to me 🤣
No but really, even though this is by far my favourite book in the series, I can totally see where you are coming from. Funnily enough, I actually found Kaladin's whole journey back home and with the parshmen the least interesting aspect of the book, and the rest is all pure gas for me. And that scene between Renarin and Jasnah at the end is just... chills. As impactful as the "you cannot have my pain" moment.
Also, Moash defenders uniteee!!! He really didn't do anything wrong here. If you are judging him for this, then we should also judge Adolin for killing Sadeas, right? Give the man some grace hahah
Loved this rambly review!! 🤩

Finally, someone sane who agrees that Moash did nothing wrong in this book! You’ve earned a subscriber, sir. Every lighteyes who benefits from the system that oppresses the darkeyes is guilty, even if they didn’t personally cause harm. It’s a messed-up system, and Moash was absolutely right to seek justice—or vengeance—against that whiny, pampered child-king.

The thing about Moash that I think is underappreciated is that, love him or hate him, he's pretty morally consistent. We cheer for slave Moash saying fuck the lighteyes and then when he actually gets some power and still says fuck the lighteyes we're all like 😮😮

Also, i started reading Pride and Prejudice after your top classics video and it's great! I thought it would be a slog but it's super fun!

Fantastic review man ! Love the discussion we had in the discord while reading. I kinda agree with Kholinar, but I do feel the ending was worth it (but as you saw I also took a massive break, as i did the last time so I feel that break did help). Also I won't stand for this Shallan slander ! Her povs are the best !

I've only read book 1, but I'm here for you and the cat.

This was kind of a refreshingly different take! Most people live for the Sanderlanches. (Also, my sister's cats are Siberians, and they love fetch.)

Great review! I’m listening to different reviews after finishing Oathbringer on my stormlight reread and thought your opinions on the book were interesting. I think oathbringer has surpassed wor on the reread simply because I love the character of Dalinar so much in this book. I liked this video quite a bit so I’ll be checking out your other videos.

Words of Radiance is still the peak of the series for me, which is a bit of a bummer because we'd ideally like to see at least a sustained level of quality for the subsequent books. I was a huge fan of Dalinar's development in this one, particularly through the flashbacks, which was why I disliked his reduced role in Rhythm of War. I'm actually a bit shocked to hear Oathbringer was rated lower than Rhythm of War. I do think Oathbringer could've used some trimming, but I felt RoW dragged in so many spots that I would've liked to see a few hundred pages cut out. But in Oathbringer specifically, I agree that the pace slows in Kholinar, and while I generally enjoyed the progression of the story there, it was kind of dragged out (like you were saying with Kaladin hanging out with the wall guard). Shallan dragged for me as well because it seemed she backslid a bit in terms of her character progression in WoR.

Regarding Kholinar and the Shadesmar journey, I think that issue stems from how he plots these books, which is that each one is essentially a trilogy crammed into one giant thing. So, the Kholinar battle likely could've functioned as the climax of a normal book, but since it's the climax of the middle of this book, it's a bit jarring.

Anyway, I don't want to type a book here, but I generally agree with what you said here. I'd love to hear your thoughts on RoW, because as you can probably tell already, I had a pretty big drop-off in enjoyment with that one. I'm still excited for Wind and Truth, but I am much more cautious this time than I've been for any of his books before.

Sanderson has never been amazing at following through with interesting themes he introduces imo so I get your gripes

I think I promised you an angry Stormlight comment at some point.

AHHHH YOU'RE SO VERY WRONG ABOUT YOUR BRAIN THOUGHTS!!!!

Not actually watching because spoilers, but hopefully the algorithm guides this video to the correct people!
