Ricardo Rios-Carrillo - Differentiation of white matter histopathology using b-tensor encoding and machine learning.

Biography: Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México

Abstract: This work explores b-tensor encoding dMRI data with machine learning to detect neuropathology. For this we induced white matter damage in rodent optic nerves and acquired ex vivo b-tensor encoding data to calculate quantitative diffusion metrics. We used machine learning to build a voxel-wise classification map of histopathology. We guided our methods with histology. The obtained map is sensitive to microstructural damage and has the potential to be further developed to detect neurodegeneration.
