Officials at Sea-Tac Airport are hoping a new pilot program will help curb the homeless crisis that's been growing inside.

The Port of Seattle Police Department (POSPD) says before the pandemic, homeless people tended to seek shelter near baggage claim and mostly at night.

Now they're moving to other nonsecure areas like ticketing and in public restrooms causing public safety concerns for police.

Let's see, we've sacrificed our libraries, our parks, our sidewalks, our parking lots, our strorefronts, our safety, our sanity, , to the our "homeless neighbors". Now the airport. Where will it end! These are not the earmarks of a "world-class" city.

I fly in and out of this airport several times a year. Its the only place in Seattle I will set foot in out of necessity. And now we will need to be fearful of being mugged, or assaulted IN the airport? There may not be easy access to official services, but lots of access to recently remodeled bathrooms, and travelers carrying money and valuables. "Leaders" of King County and WA need to either do your jobs or be removed from them

This is a drug issue, not a 'homeless' issue... The vast majority will refuse services when offered, as the services eg shelters generally don't allow drug use.

Can't carry a weapon in an airport but can shoot up drugs in the open? Yes, this is clown world. I've never been at this airport, but if it's like most, it's not someplace you would normal walk to, so are these homeless taking buses to get there? Last thing I want at baggage claim area late at night is a bunch of sketchy homeless people living there. Whoever is ultimately responsible to manage the airport needs to be held accountable for this, but like most things, it will never happen.

This is actually a problem in other airports. My brother-in-law said it's bad in Atlanta & it's happening here in Denver.

Wait until the homeless move onto the runways. Then the activists will demand a no fly zone, because the noise upsets the homeless.

If I were a job applicant coming into SeaTac for a job interview in Seattle, I would turn back without without going any further.

I watch your show every day. It's one of the highlights. I'm also a clean-cut 35 year old professional who's homeless. I'm living out of my work van. I've tried everything I've worked two jobs I was making 35 an hour which should have put me well above the line to rent a room it just seems like everything I do doesn't pan out in Seattle. in Florida it's easy to live I don't do drugs I don't drink don't have any vices I'm perplexed I don't know what did they say about up here the prices are ridiculous it feels like the country is going to collapse but everybody's doing great everywhere else or at least the red States I live in but up here you go to the grocery store and everything is $5 no matter how big or small you're not leaving the store without spending $20 the rent is out of hand they've totally destroyed the middle class. This is led me into a deep depression I'm on the verge of hospitalizing myself and trying to get back to Florida I'm not asking you for your solution or your opinion you our intelligent and I wish somebody could explain why it's like this up here

They just keep throwing money at a problem, then are shocked when the problem becomes worse.

Last time I flew into seatac and was waiting for our luggage, there was some super sketchy dudes(homeless I assume) creeping around baggage claim, I was surprised they were just allowed to wander around.

Me and my wife wondered why all the seats had been removed in arrivals while we basically stood for nearly 2 hours waiting for an airporter recently. Guess it’s a symptom of this. Oh well the homeless come first … again

My biggest problem with going into blue states lately and especially blue cities is that there is never any clean safe bathrooms!!! They are either disgusting 3rd world toilets which are for quick emergency use only, or they end up getting shut down because of all the vagrant drug addicts using them as shooting galleries and mini-hotels. I went to a Starbucks in San Diego and the bathrooms were shut down because the vagrants were causing too many problems. So now it's like yea, coffee and no bathroom... Not reasonable!!!

When I was living outside Concord, New Hampshire, about 20 years ago, the local newspaper interviewed the homeless in the area. I remember one man saying he really enjoyed the lifestyle, that he enjoyed camping and being in the out of doors. I also remember thinking that if you're stuck outside, you might as well love it
( And yes, we also have the same problems with drugs, poverty, crime and murder regarding the homeless camps).

Not everyone commits a crime but Loitering is a crime in a lot of places.

Call me heartless, but the best result when Saddam invaded Kuwait was . . . New airport security measures cleared all the vagrants and donation hustlers out of the airport. What had been a nest of increasing crime became safe again.
Keep airports safe!
