A vision for radically personalized learning | Katherine Prince | TEDxColumbus

Could we transform today’s outmoded education system to a vibrant learning ecosystem that puts learners at the center and enables many right combinations of learning resources, experiences, and supports to help each child succeed? Creating personalized learning for all young people will require a paradigm shift in education and a deep commitment to providing each student with the right experiences at the right time.

As Senior Director of Strategic Foresight at KnowledgeWorks, Katherine Prince leads the organization’s work on the future of learning. Since 2007, she has helped a wide range of education stakeholders translate KnowledgeWorks’ future forecasts into forward-looking visions and develop strategies for bringing those visions to life. She also writes about what trends shaping the future of learning could mean for the learning ecosystem. Before joining KnowledgeWorks in 2006, Katherine supported large-scale changes in working practice at Britain’s Open University and helped federal agencies and other clients increase service quality by incorporating a customer perspective into their organizational planning. Katherine holds a BA in English from Ohio Wesleyan University; an MA in English from the University of Iowa; and an MBA from The Open University with emphases on creativity, innovation, and change and on knowledge management. She also earned a certificate in Foresight from the University of Houston. Katherine is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Union Institute and University.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. I agree with previous comments. Except just visions there are software solutions, tools and platforms for personalized, adaptive, differentiated learning and intelligent tutoring. They are not created equal though. Some of them have issues with visions. Most are based on oversimplified model of human learning and have limited application. Usually it is still difficult to develop good personalized courses. But some platforms include authoring tools for users, so you can try to create your own personalized courses. The easiest authoring tool I can recommend is in Adaptive Learning-Authoring Platform CLARITY. Just google it to try adaptive courses and their authoring. BTW, it is based not on radical, but on a smooth transition vision.

Felicitar a la autora por la calidad de las preguntas, que viene formulando a la humanidad desde 2007. A modo de respuestas, siempre provisionales, mi opinion personal, es el timing...La infancia es un periodo extenso de la vida del nino o nina, pero un periodo finito, que concluye en el ano 18 de la existencia, de la historia personal o de la biografia propia. Si en esos 18 anos, la escuela, la familia, la comunidad y todo el que tenga que ver con su desarrollo, como talento e inteligencia, UNICO e irrepetible, en su propia historicidad concreta, NO HACE por el nino o nina, TODO lo humanamente posible, como dice Dr. Touron Figueroa "El talento que no se ejercita CON EL TRABAJO, se pierde"

...: La vida entre los cero y los 18 anos de edad,

es el tiempo de construir los valores sociales y

familiares, despues... la gente solo se va de casa,

se pone a estudiar y a trabajar, como Dios manda,

en el sector de las OSCs, en el sector publico, en

el sector privado o se inventa un trabajo u

ocupacion que nunca antes existio...

Ese es el caso de Steve Jobs o de Bill Gates,

gente de trabajo.

estoy aun muerto de risa, al ver la foto de perfil de

Prof. Dra. Valarie Zeithalm, comiendose una dona,

sin verguenzas, solo para divertir a sus hijos y

a sus alumnos de todo el mundo...

LA VIDA COTIDIANA, puede estar llena de encanto

y de humor, ...esta mujer no esta pensando en que esta

haciendo el ridiculo, ni que la editorial para la que escribe

-libros de texto universitarios- le cancelara el contrato.

SOLO ESTA VIVIENDO -su aventura diaria- en Facebook,

como una persona normal, que pese a sus multiples

talentos y otros encantos... VIVE.

teniamos menos razones para sentirnos orgullosos de la

cultura DOMINICANA... y su proyeccion en el mundo,

TRABAJEMOS pues, manos a la obra!

Quejandonos y llorando sobre la leche derramada no vamos

a llegar a ningun lado... en la economia, ni en las artes, ni en

los talentos, ni en las inteligencias de ninos y ninas, en el

sistema publico y en el sistema privado de EDUCACION

INFANTIL... todo es pasajero, menos la biografia INFANTIL, la

vida de la persona entre los CERO anos hasta los 18 anos de

edad...
