I’ve got a SMLE No. 4 that’s been sporterized. I can understand the sentiment but you’re flaying a piece of history! I love the lee enfield though and really want to get my hands on an intact one.

As far as sporters go- this one at least retained some dignity. Looks like they may have just chopped it down, but left most of the full length wood furniture on top and under the barrel

Gewehr means "gun" in German and Mauser is the manufacturer. Super cool piece. Mausers are the best actions in the world, although the lee enfield comes in close 2nd

Even sporterized, what a great piece of history for the price. They dont make'em like that anymore. Great pick up my friend. I love the C&R/Antique arms in my collection and always have my eye out but also happy for anyone getting a cool piece like this. Way to go!!!
