Most common question in the heating and air conditioning industry I get the most is what HVAC brand is best. Who do I recommend and so on... My answer is always the same. Focus more on your installer and less about what brand they install.

A good HVAC system can be made bad with a bad installation. Joshua Griffin goes over some bad installation practices homeowners can watch out for.

Is it fine to run the lineset through the attic and then down to the indoor unit to avoid mounting it on the exterior?

Is there a code that says to keep the Freon lines for coolant lines away from the roofing sheathing so that it doesn’t get hit by nails? I’m in North Carolina but I figured the code would be based on the same principles in most states

I need ti install 3/8 and a 3/4 for a 3 ton system . Its about 25 feet and gonna need about 3 ninty bends before out of the wall. Just wondering how do i do that? These lines are soft copper in a coil. I've seen some guys filling them with sand or water. Not sure if that is a good idea. Can you give me some tips. Its in new construction and I want to do it myself. Thanks

Question. Can you run line sets upwards? Through the attic? I wanna install a split on my living room wall. West end of the house. But would like to put the motors on the eastern side of my house. So I figured up and through the attic so it’s not a long run of covers outside my house

I just learned my liquid line sets are too small just 8 months into owning the home. However, everything passed inspection. The system is only a year old, and now I’m being told I have an issue that could be thousands. Is this normal or could I contact the seller’s contractor to get this rectified?

Why do they use soft copper for the line set? Can you use solid copper for a line set?

I asked the contractor what seer was installed. We already agreed and was quoted it was to be 16 seer. After looking at the ratings the day after install, they installed a 14.3 seer2 which equals a 15 seer. Not 16seer. Receipt says 16 seer condenser. What do I do?

The HVAC guy and my GC are fighting over where to run the lines. Would you recommend sleeving them underneath thr slab and up through a wall. Or directly into the house through the exterior wall and run them up inside the wall into the attic?

Question. I'm installing a system and the manufacturer does not recommend running the control cables on the split system with the line set as the cable may get hot. The line set is insulated so why not?

Sir, why don't you refer your customers to the ACCA QI guide and or procedures. These customers would know immediately if the contractor was a quality installation contractor or not cuz they would have to paperwork to back it up they have HERS testing I don't know about in Virginia but California you got to have hers testing on the ductwork and or the refrigeration charge. Or refer your customers to the NATE website? When you start showing the customers what what they should be doing there's no doubt that the installation would be 100% better than their lousy insulation that they paid for probably overpaid for. Anyway honestly I really didn't like your videos at first but now I kind of like them It brings up a lot of things that I don't normally think about. Keep up the good work. A C20 contractor in California.
