Puss in boots 2 feels like it took inspiration from MGRR

Puss and Raiden are the main character that changes their way of life after encountering the antagonists

Perrito and Bladewolf are the dog companion that helps the main character on their journey

Goldilocks and Mistral are antagonists that wields a staff

Sundowner and Jack Horner are villains that just like violence/commits terrible acts not because of a noble cause but instead because they love violence or they just like doing it for no reason.

Death is a mix of Jetstream Sam and Monsoon. He is the reason the protagonist changes his way of life and is the main rival for the protagonist.

The theming of the song even fits Puss in Boots. The original refers to how Metal Gears (and even pre-upgrade Raiden) are becoming obsolete in the face of new cyborgs, barely surviving like starving predators. In the case of Puss, though, he is on the run from Death, one of the unbreakable rules of nature.
