On April 5, 1860, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) climbed to the belfry of Boston's Old North Church, where almost a century earlier bells tolled the warning that the British were coming. The visit inspired him to write his classic poem that immortalized Paul Revere and the beginning of America's War of Independence. Illustrations by Charles Santore. Narration and Music Composition by Warren Oree. Musicians: Adam Faulk, piano; Greg "JuJu" Jones, drums and percussion; Warren Oree, acoustic bass.

This project accompanied the exhibition Charles Santore: Fifty Years of Art and Storytelling, the first ever retrospective of Santore, on view at Woodmere Art Museum February 17 through May 13, 2018.

Our little 6 year old learned a lot from this video that his teacher used as part of a lesson, thank you for making this video for children to learn some history.

Absolutely awesome. Will pass this on to some of my DAR and SAR (the men) friends. My husband and his friend do the 'Revolutionary War Rarities' podcast for the Sons of the American Revolution. Thank you!

What a wonderful reading of "Paul Revere’s Ride: The Landlord’s Tale."
It's an exciting treatment of Paul Revere's ride to alert the Sons of Liberty.

This brings back a wonderful memory of my mother. She would be turning 89 but she passed a few years ago. She had to memorize this in high school. One night, while she was in the hosptial for a broken ankle, I think, about 7 years ago, it was my turn to stay with her. It was almost 1am and I was about to leave but told her I would stay if she wanted me to. We thought she had dementa fairly bad, when suddenly she started reciting this poem. I was amazed at how much of it she remembered. I didn't even know she knew it. Her mind was so alert that night, and that was such a gift. That night was such a gift.

Ignore comment below - the music isn’t too loud and really enhances the poem and story - great reading too

Thank you for this rendition. After listening to many readings of the poem, this is the one I chose to share in my English class because of the combination of a wonderful narrative voice, the beautiful music and the graphics. You're helping to make my job easier!

This is a great resource! I teach Middle School ELA. My students found this poem incomprehensible last year. They'll love this video! It will make it so much easier for them to understand. Thanks for all the effort it took to put it together.
