Can I please just point out to all those who are going to say something about the Marines losing to Koscheck... if they could all beat him then there would be no point in paying him to come in and train with the Marines!!!

You only get reallygood when you fight/train/practice with people who are better than you. So the Corps brought in an MMA fighter to kick the Marines’ asses so THEY GET BETTER!!! This is not about stroking egos, this is about raising the bar for the Marines.

Just because Marines have little mma training dont mean theyre automatically gonna win, especially with a person who made a career doing mma. Like saying a mma fighter can run and do pushups so he should be able to do what Marines do:/

I think I heard somewhere on an mma podcast that Koscheck has a company that works with soldiers/marines etc in all sort of ways. So he probably does this sort of stuff a lot. Good to see him use his fame and money for something positive.

All these people commenting about well if it was a recon or MARSOC or this or that listen up. We hardly train in unarmed combat in the Marine Corps. I have practiced BJJ for only about a year and I’m a skinny dude and I constantly tap out all sorts of MCMAP belts and I’m only a grey belt. Doing a MCMAP course once every other year doesn’t even scratch the surface of what you’d learn in a BJJ school in a month.

No disrespect to either. It depends on the context. Rules of Engagement in war versus practice/in the ring are completely different. My son as an instructor says why not learn both?

I've been told the green machine does train in martial arts. That's great. I had always wanted more than my eight hours. I trained for seven years with my youngest son in Isshinru Karate. It can change your life.

I don't care what anybody says it all depends on the individual that can beat 1 or the other whether it's MMA or or the army Hard work pays off With blood sweat and tears

Yes marines do have martial arts program but you can’t compare that to someone who fights their whole life

It’s been decades since military members fight hand to hand it’s really rare. You always fight with weapons in a war.

In a real life scenario where youd have to fight like this wouldnt the soldier have about 50-70 lbs of gear on them? Making all these moves practically hard to do

MMA and Marines train in different fighting. In the ultimate fight where both men go out with weapons to hunt down and kill the other, a Marine would take the MMA fighter out. Marines are trained to kill someone at 500 yards.

I can't imagine how humbling this may be to a Marine. These MMA/UFC fighters live eat, breathe, and rest in conceptional fighting. It's their bread and butter. The US military can use this type of training.
