I love that cardiology got a job specifically to ruin Nephrology's day.

"Renal neogenesis", I cannot express how hilariously you are able to package these tragedies.

"You denied my Patient's Dialysis"
"Yes that's correct"

I love how he doesn't even know which patient it is, which doctor this is, or for what reason they denied, he just knows the answer is yes and here are reasons

The cardiologist doesnt even get paid. The tears of the nephrologist are enough

… the fact that health insurance companies would have the gall to deny dialysis is… baffling.
Literally we do everything to make dialysis a last resort. The idea that we have to call them to explain why they need this literal lifesaving procedure is beyond me

Unironically, the fact that I didn't recognize the cardiologist without his signature smirk depsite having the SAME FACE is top tier acting

“How do we know the patient even has kidneys if there is no urine?” Damn it cardiology, if the patient was literally missing both of their kidneys, they would need dialysis e v e n m o r e !

“Exclude renal neogenesis” is going to be on my next CT requisition form. I’ll let you know what the radiologist says.

Forget the patient having no kidneys, let’s dwell for a second on Cardiology having no heart!

The affection and respect that Nephrology has for nephrons is just so adorable!

Insurance companies: 'Have you tried just letting them die and see if they come back to life in 3 days? I have it on good authority that's happened before.'

As someone's who's mother had congenital heart disease and developed kidney failure later on but lives in a country with free health care, I love the cardiologist-nephrologist skits (not the insurance part). I have fond memories of my mum's cardiologist and nephrologist constantly fighting with one another trying to do what's best for my mum's respective organs. Nephrologists are actually obsessed with kidneys and cardiologists with the circulatory system and have little regard for other organs

Speaking of someone who has worked with medical billing both for hospitals doctor's offices and rehab clinics since 1975, I firmly believe that this all started when we gave insurance companies the right to set what is reasonably necessary for price. And then the hospitals in their greediness and ignorance signed up for DRGs. This why it's hard to stay in the hospital if you might need an extra day. But to me this is where it all started.

Glad to see Cigna taking some heat. United isn't the only soulless corporation in town

My wife and sister have worked as dialysis nurses. This portrayal brings me tears, having personally witnessed SIMILAR denials of patient care. I feel both sad and angry that our medical insurance companies have amassed the power to deny medically necessary care. GJBrownDO 9/21/2023 11:28 Eastern

Keep up the great work, Dr. G.

My hot take: Until physicians can start billing insurance for peer to peer calls, prior auths, they won't stop. Patients don't see or hear about 5% of the stuff this is lampooning that goes on behind the scenes. Insurance only will listen when it affects their bottom line.

If you're doing requests, next up introduce a new character and do all the hospitals selling their lab operations to LabCorp.

Literally everyone needs to see this series. US Healthcare is nothing short of a human rights violation.

As a cardiologist I have to say that we actually love dialysis… this way we can give as much contrast agent as needed

I love how the Cigna rep doesn't even know who the patient is yet but he already knew the dialysis was denied.

“Renal neogenesis” 🤣🤣🤣 Also, “ The kidney and its many tubules.” This is a classic in the archive of the ongoing cage match between nephrology and cardiology
