I was a teenager when this song came out. I remember being on the school bus in Hatteras, NC and the driver had a transistor radio next to him. This song came on and it was the coolest ride all the way to Buxton High School! A memory from many decades ago.

Was 17 when this came out, this and Radar Love. Summer of 74 I think. Great time to be alive.

💥🤯 After 45 years playing this wrong in the band, I finally got it shown by the music master himself🎉
Thanks Randy!!!
And thanks for your awesome songs through the years. Lorenzo and company should be proud of Grandpa 😜👏

I was fortunate to get to work on one of Randy’s albums in the studio (Heavy Blues). His enthusiasm for (and encyclopedia-like knowledge of) Rock and Roll is second to none. He must have brought in two-dozen guitars for the session, It was a great time! 🎸🔥

Bachmann had so many incredible stories. What a life he's lived.

The story of the guy who came in to play piano on it is great too. It gave it that total roadhouse feel.

I saw BTO, 1987, at Chillcoot Charlie's bar in Anchorage, Alaska. Lotsa beer, sawdust floor, probably 150 folks there. Great night!

And Randy, we’ve been banging our guitars ever since I trying to come up with something so clever! Lol thanks for all the great songs, brother!

I just love hearing some of these inside stories how this song came about, but one of the most fascinating is how the lyrics were created from a blind recording technician Buzz Richman's walk to work to the piano part being played by a pizza delivery guy Norman Durkee who happened to be at the right place at the right time. You can say this song has all the elements of lightning captured in a bottle for sure. It's been said that it's the spontaneous songs that get that kind of fire.
