When you think about it general grievous was in some incredibly unsurvivable positions and the only reason he did survive was because he retreated, grievous isn’t a massive coward he just wants to live.

The issue isn't even that he made Grievous a "coward". I like the idea of him being an opportunist who will happily use dirty tricks to win against force sensitives. The problem is that they made every effort to show him as an incompetent and stupid one.

One example being the Ventress. Being on Dathomir, it makes sense that she would be stronger than usual. However, did we really need to see Grievous get humbled? What would have been made him a better villain would've been something like..

Ventress: "-if you win, the Nightsisters will surrender to you."
Grievous: "Nah I'm good. KILL THEM!"

I love clone wars but this is kinda facts

I know this video is older, but seriously, I couldn't agree more. In 2003, one of the best pieces of star wars media, (in my opinion) Genndy Tartakovsky brought the clone wars the life completely.

The point im trying to make is that grievous was a hulking, menacing, ruthless monster that could take on multiple skilled jedi and would only leave with a tattered cape.

While I love the clone wars series, Dave ruined one of my favorite characters and I could never forgive that. To me, nothing compares to the magic of the OG clone wars.

One of the many things to remember. This happened because the clone wars was originally geared towards the younger generation. Kids. Soo can't really fault him for nerfing the crap out of the General.

No Dave filoni made him that way because it had to fit with the movies portrayl of him. That's the real reason. You want a good grevious go to legends
