This can't be right. My radiators heat across the top first. The bottom heats up several minutes after the top.

.
The diagram is incorrect.

The facts is complicated

Pumped water flows
from the entry valve
across the bottom
to the exit valve.

Hot convects up
from the flow
at the entry end.
At the same time,
cool water
drifts from the entry end
towards the exit end.

Turbulence tends to mix
the hotter
and the cooler water.

Curious and honest question, but why does the heat 'red' slow down towards the end. surely path of least resistance means water would travel direct to the right side valve? I only ask your diagram represents what my verticle radiator does, yet I can't work out why the top heats quicker on the last panel than the bottom of the last panel.. Just curious. Thanks

it's weird that it doesn't go in a maze that has all the water pass through the whole thing. Guess too restrictive?

So when you turn that radiator off the water doesn't go through at all ? How do radiators down stream get hot water?

How does the water flow when the radiator is turned off? How does hot water reach the next radiator in the system?
