I never really saw how staggeringly bad the Gobert trade was until you put it side by side with the Durant deal.

Now I want to see a Mavs vs Suns playoff series

I think KDs foot being on the line will be one of the most important moments in modern nba history. If the Nets had won, they had a great shot at the title. With a title, there's no way the team would've melted down like this, and the players wouldn't have been traded as early. That moment has led to a shake up of the nba's top teams (76ers, suns, mavs) and has changed the trajectory of at least 5 teams. Would love to see a video on how this disaster turned out in a few years.

A Dallas vs Phoenix rematch at this point would have more hype than the eventual NBA Finals.

I can understand the Nets here. They have a diverse pool of talent to give time and see who sticks out, and those picks will probably allow them to round out their team into a very consistent, deep roster. They're prioritizing team basketball and want to grow their own stars with Claxton and Thomas with a bunch of great two way players. No superstar drama, no untenable cap situations. I honestly like their strategy.

I HOPE Dallas and Phoenix meet either in the first round or the WCF. A rivalry would be solidified on 3 levels. Dallas and Phoenix (again), Luka and Booker, and Kyrie and Durant. I’m really looking forward to this post-season.

My biggest takeaway, stars and superstars get what they want quite often now. It's been reported that both Durant and Kyrie requested trades and they both essentially got what they wanted.

The Nets imploded. Insane, really. The potential was unbelievable, but a team's gotta team.

Arguably, these last 3-5 days felt like an entire off-season. From Nets and Mavs to Lakers and Suns, the whole league has gone wild. It is exciting though, and worth staying up until like 4am as a European fan. Meanwhile, Nuggets and Celtics are chilling at the very top of the league... It will be VERY interesting to see the now improved(?) teams challenge them, though.

I actually really like the Nets after this deal. They've got a solid group of really defensive underdogs, all of which are likeable, and they have a ton of assets to start building back up. They're going to be a fun team to watch imo, even if they don't have championship aspirations.

I still think the nets are going to be better than everyone expects. Sometimes having no superstar can make the team shine.

As a suns fan from phoenix I'm hyped but also cautious. We gave away a lot of depth with Makal Bridges and Cam Johnson. Both of them were young players that developed their whole careers within the suns ecosystem. In addition to our first round draft picks we've pretty much traded our future away. Kevin Durant is one of the greatest but he's very injury prone especially recently. I think there's a bigger chance that this could blow up in the suns face than people are willing to admit right now

"They traded ten dimes for a dollar, but Gobert was a counterfeit bill" DAMN DUDE!

As a Suns fan and season ticket holder, KD has given me hope that we can get back on track. I like Jimmy's assessment of the situation. I also really want to see another Suns vs Mavs series. Thanks for the great content as usual Jimmy!!! 👏

This really aged well for both mavs and suns

I don‘t agree, I think the Nets got great value. You said it yourself, KD era in Brooklyn was terrible in terms of results. It just wasn‘t working. And he wanted to leave. Also, as great as he is, he‘s quite injury prone and it won‘t get better with age. After the trades, the Nets have a solid team with some excellent players. Great defensive players, very good shooters. If they can get organized offensively, get everyone involved and ball and bodies moving, they can make a run without a clear number one option. Also they‘re a young team, they will still get better. And they got a shitload of picks. I think they can look optimistically into the future after the big three disaster.
And the suns: I like them but I don‘t think they got a great deal. The starting lineup is very impressive now, but they‘re lacking in depth. Also who‘s gonna play defense now? They gave up some of their best young defensive players. If they don‘t get a title this or next year, they will regret this. The window is short.

As a Warriors fan, I welcome Suns fans to the club.
No matter what happens now, whether you win or lose in the next few years. You’ll hear nothing except for 4 words:

“You had Kevin Durant”

We knew that the nets would ultimately fall short. But damn I wasn’t ready for the trades that made the Mavs - Suns rivalry even bigger

The amount of power the players have is definitely getting crazy like there might come a time where small market teams have no shot to be good outside of a year or so if they get lucky in the draft
