I'm done with it - It's time to move on (CARAVANNING AUSTRALIA)

I'm done with it and its time to move on from this warranty nightmare.
It's been over 5 months now and our windows still haven't been replaced by warranty and now I'm more than done with it, taking matters into my own hand. I have ordered brand new tinted windows and frames from Aussie Traveller and going to get fitted myself and this only took 6 days for them to get to me once ordered. Caravan warranty is a nightmare and should not be this hard-to-get things fixed. It's time to move on.

I have a sr19 6years old now, I re did the wiring mainly at the battery because is was crap ( Australian workmanship what a joke) wire barely holding on just twisted together and taped no fuses etc. cupboards falling off nearly replaced all hinges so far microwave fell out, pantry fell apart food all over floor. If you look at the cut outs where the vents are for the microwave etc prepare yourself just a couple off hole saws not even aligned or squared off, no attempt to clean out the shavings. Surprisingly the van is still going and I have nearly finished fixing it. As the saying goes you get what you pay for I guess even though the $140000 plus vans have some issues. Don’t let them off the hook for your windows!

Sorry to hear of your problems mate! The lack of warranty support is extremely disappointing to say the least.

We went with Kedron (home made in QLD) although we live in WA. They have the ultimate and best after sales service - not in the county - IN THE WORLD!! The Gall brothers all work in the business and all stand by their name when it comes to supporting their vans.

You might have one you bought 20 years ago. You take it in there and they will give it the same love that they’re putting into a brand new van on the production line.

We THOUGHT we had an issue with some wheel bearing seals and without a second breath they sent a whole new set over to us even though they showed us where we were mistaken on that belief (and the mechanic here confirmed they were right). So far, absolutely every Kedron owner we have ever spoken to has spoken of, not just the quality of the build of their vans, but also on their after sales service. As a result, I will say I don’t believe the lack of warranty care issue is 100% across the board with all Aussie manufacturers.

Nonetheless, it is always disappointing to read or hear of anyone else’s van warranty issues they’re having because we all love living the van life and we all want to see each other enjoying the same life together. All the best mate!👍🏽

I have a mate that brought a Great escape caravan. They have had a few small issues and warranty has been very good. Nothing major like this tho.

I looked at a SR van and others in that range, and funny enough, I ended up with a Jayco Journey 16.67. I know they cop heaps of flack but 18 months on and 10, 000 kms and yet to have any major problem that requires warranty. We don't go off road, so not sure if that has anything to do with that but been happy and $20, 000 cheaper.

We have a Snowy River 2019 SR19S (Slide Out), fantastic van, done over 30, 000 km doing an 18 month lap of Australia and a few other trips and apart from services every 10, 000 Km, set of new tyres and one cracked skylight which is normal as they get UV effected had no issues. Obviously built pre COVID and when Snowy were building a business and their sales were small so had good build and QA and cared about customers. We used to tell everyone that asked how fantastic the van was and would buy it again.
Am now going to get a new van as want to be able to be off grid with large lithium and solar and do a bit more off bitumen and was going to look at the Snowy SRT but the issues I have read in the Snowy FB Group and the appalling way warranty treats everyone which makes a mockery of their Values and Mission on their Web Site we have decided that we will not buy another Snowy ever.

Hi I’ve been binge watching your videos. Love them. Can you explain the electrical side ? I have src16 new and getting used to the van. There is no inverter and wondering can I use hair straightener - air fryer in these power points in van or use seperate generator because of this?

We also have an SRT19 our windows are still fine but we hate the clear windows should have been tinted from factory. Do you mind posting up the sizes of each window. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when done.

There's a simple solution to solve warranty issues with firms who want you to go away. Put in a small claim through your state courts. Costs less than $30 and will put the wind right up them. Ask me how I know.

You should shame Snowy River Caravans on A Current Affair. Can't wait to see your new windows in. 😉

Hey mate don’t let snowy off the hook by saying warranty is an industry wide issue. Not saying you’re wrong but in my view it’s no excuse. It’s not the warranty staffs fault it is on management to ensure customers are supported after the sale. Cheers
