Actor Chadwick Boseman, who died this week at age 43 from colon cancer, is being remembered with heartwarming posts and candid snapshots across social media, including those from director Spike Lee and actor Angela Bassett. The on-screen superhero is also being remembered for an initiative to deliver protective equipment to minority communities hit hard by the coronavirus. NBC’s Erin McLaughlin reports for Sunday TODAY.

This morning, my son saw me crying, still. He asked me, "mom, why are you still crying, it's the third day since he has passed (2nd)?". I said, it is okay to cry.

This hit me the most. When I saw his last video, I knew that he looks unhealthy. I knew, because my late husband looked like that when he was battling cancer. I got scared! So, when I've read that Chadwick passed away, I wasn't surprised for the reason, but devastated that he's gone.

He was a good soul, powerful, strong, brave and a real life superhero. He touched my heart. I know the pain of his family, especially Simone. The pain is indescribable, unfathomable and immeasurable, it is beyond that. There's no apt description of it, actually.

I love this man, albeit I've never met him in person. He's in my prayers and my angel, too!

When I was a kid, I use to collect comic books but The Black Panther comic book was one of the books I don't remember because back then it was all about Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor....
So that's why the Black Panther movie was special to black kids as well as myself.

But there are people that wouldn't understand.
