Absolutely cannot say enough about SLOWING DOWN. One of the biggest mistakes a new player makes (especially when playing against a seasoned player) is to try to play at their opponents pace. The worst thing about that is that for a seasoned player, 'fast pace' often equates to 'dialed in' and the match will be over before you know it. USE those 20 seconds, even if you don't need them. Let your opponent think you're mulling over your options. Get inside their head, plant that seed of doubt in their mind. :)

disclaimer: I still consider myself one of those "new players". I've only been playing for a few months, and am learning lots every time I play. "SLOW DOWN" was one of the first bits of advice I received and it has proven invaluable!
