He never took a bad picture, something about him was majestic. You can take any photo of him and turn it into a tapestry.

I'm so greatful of this music. It *is* something to live for. I'm lonely, poor, have all sorts of aches and pains that age and lousy health care bring, I have severe mental health problems, I use and abuse substances and I'm depressed and I've been anxious and fearful all my long life and I listen to this music, this song -and I DON'T wanna die. I want to live, 'cause there is so much amazing, intelligent, unbelievably good music, I have not yet heard. Thank you, Mr Evans & co. In general, I think musicians should be given some life saving- prices or awards. I mean *serious* money. What is one life worth...?

0:11 Love that side shot of him. It feels like Bill Evans was playing from his soul. That kind of piano playing you cannot get from taking lessons. I don’t care if you’ve been taking lessons for 30 years —— you can’t “learn” to play the piano like that. You’ve either got “IT” or you don’t and Bill Evans had I T.

The first song I ever heard by Bill Evans. Had never experienced sounds like this before. Was lucky enough to hear him at a small club in Montreal a few years later..Genius!

Oh, my Gosh, the beyond-incredible "The Two Lonely People" album was one of the first jazz LPs I ever bought, at age 16 when as a pianist studying at the High School of Music & Art in New York City (where I'm from) & just learning to play basic jazz piano, I was recommended to various incredible jazz artists especially pianists, by a fellow who managed a local record store in Manhattan. This LP became my "life blood"! I cherished it. Yes, I bought other pianists' LPs at his suggestion, too - Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Red Garland, Art Tatum, Bud Powell, and even newer pianists at the time like Monty Alexander - plus lovely guitarist Charlie Byrd. But Bill Evans...beyond unbelievable...the most moving music I may have ever heard. As someone with a musical brain, I found that Bill's melodies and chords became embedded, and resonated with me so much...I'd "listen" to Bill in my head wherever I went. The music - whether Bill's beautiful originals or covers of others' standards, was soon engrained.

Luckily, I saw Bill live at a small club in NYC a year or two before I moved to L.A....that year was, so sadly, the year he passed. Hearing him live is something I'll never forget. I'll always adore Bill Evans for his gift of the most beautiful, sensitive, lyrical music anywhere, and I'm forever grateful. Thank you, Bill, and RIP.

An old buddy and I, many many years ago, were each having some bad romantic times with multiple different women.  Sitting at home one day, crying in our separate beers, in desperation I put this tune on from 'The Bill Evans Album' and though we were no lonelier when it was over we did begin to think that we might yet find the ability to go on.  And we did. That's the power of art.  Even when life does not appear to be worth celebrating, art (as Bernard Malamud once put it) celebrates life and gives us our measure.

My daily listen. Got to be the greatest pianist I’ve ever heard in my decades old life. I can tell he’s playing from his soul.

Oh my God ——- nobody can play the piano better than this., The platinum standard. I mean ——— c’mon ———- ridiculously beautiful. Perfection. I have to listen to this a few times every week.

Of all his pieces, this is my favorite one. I played it on repeat over and over again in the 90s. Still love it!

In this incredible composition, Bill Evans demonstrates his rare composing's capabilities, in my opinion, the highest in Jazz and not only. His piano is one of the best as well, trying to tell a story rather than demonstrate technics (which he has(!)). However, a piece like this, Waltz For Debby, Very Early and some others make Bill Evans so unique as a composer - So strong structure and organized, yet with so beautiful harmony, colors and progression.
