Race is a smart, lovable Border Collie but because of his reactivity, his owner has not been able to walk him for years. Our goal was for her to be able to easily get and hold Race’s attention while on walks and in the presence of other dogs. Armed with the tools to recognize Race’s triggers and the skills to adapt, Race is now able to walk without reactivity.

What a great team this owner and dog make. Border collies aren't for everyone, but I know these two will be just fine now that the owner has a better understanding of how a BC's mind works.

Our dog keeps running out of our house running down the street. Can’t stop barking when people come to our house. we don’t want to give up on him. But, I’m disabled and I’m doing the best I can with him.

interesting fact... the schnauzer breeds have 50% better hearing than any dog on the planet they were used as rodent control but they were also used in germany to tell the german shepard when something was coming that would hurt the flock of sheep or whatever. I had 2 mini schnauzers and if the male barked we knew something was wrong. If the female barked grab a weapon, , lol. they never barked they were calm cool and collected at all times. both passed at almost 16 yrs old.. old dog issues...

Damn man I feel so bad for the dog and the owner. I don’t mean this disrespectfully at all, and she should be praised for rescuing It and caring for It, but that is just not an appropriate owner for a BC. These guys are extremely intelligent and bred to constantly be active and on the move. BC’s need constant mental and physical stimulation or they will 100% have behavioral problems like this. The part where she talked about not taking It out on a walk for years really made me sad, I know her intentions are good but that is literal torture for the animal. There is a type of dog for everyone, but ppl please be cognizant of what breed and age dog you decide to buy or adopt. An elderly woman who looks largely inactive and a BC are just not a match for each other and that is neither of their fault, it’s just reality.

My dog acts absolutely crazy, regardless of if I pull her away. I'm working so hard. Ugh.

Yeah because aversives and corrections are so helpful when training a reactive dog. Leash pop. Now he’s trained 🙄
