UAP/UFO Report - Initial Assessment

I'm pretty happy with the UAP report. I think it gives a reasonable assessment of the situation - but you can't just read snippets of it. You've got to consider the whole thing.

Here I go through it, explain what it means, and what I think the implications are.

When I don't want to read long reports about UFOs, I get a cup of coffee, open Mick's channel and let him do the reading for me.

Seems like if this report proves anything, it’s that those who want to believe will find any reason to believe, and those who want evidence will continue to wait for actual evidence. And nothing changes.

What some people don't realize is Mick is exactly the kind of person who we would want on the case, looking at the information independently. I'm sure if there was conclusive evidence of other worldly technology he would be interested in talking about that.

As usual Mick sets the record straight via rational analysis.

Interesting that the one paragraph that didn't get much attention is this one: "Our analysis of the data supports the construct that if and when individual UAP incidents are resolved they will fall into one of five potential explanatory categories: airborne clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, USG or U.S. industry developmental programs, foreign adversary systems, and a catchall “other” bin." Nowhere else do they mention "natural atmospheric phenomena" beyond this one. When they do further explain what they meant in a tangential way it's stated in the report that: "Natural Atmospheric Phenomena: Natural atmospheric phenomena includes ice crystals, moisture, and thermal fluctuations that may register on some infrared and radar systems." Which doesn't even mention the very latest in current understanding (IE Sprites, Elves, Blue/Red Jets, etc) nor do they cross correlate other similar phenomenon recorded elsewhere in the world, such as the Hessdalen lights in Norway. Seems like after pandering for more money, the take away is that we don't know or understand what we're seeing, but it deserves more investigation. Rightly so, but NOT from the intelligence community, but more so from the Civil Aeronautics Board, or the NTSB, or even NASA and the AAAS. Let's bring the proper science and engineering professionals to bear on further investigations, and not the intelligence community who can be trusted about as far as you can see them, being duplicitous at best.

Your channel is (finally) starting to gain traction. Unbelievable how small this page is considering you are the leading "debunker" in the entire scene. Thunderf00t gets more credit for literally regurgitating your work.

In a limited number of incidents, UAP reportedly appeared to exhibit unusual flight
characteristics. These observations could be the result of sensor errors, spoofing, or
observer misperception and require additional rigorous analysis.

It seems to me that the absolute abundance (100’s of millions if not billions) of high quality cameras being in use every day not capturing any clear demonstrable evidence of “breakthrough aerospace capabilities” and it only ever being blurry grainy distant low quality potato footage that captures UAPs _should_ be a hint to rational people that UAPs are almost certainly mundane normal things and not anything advanced, physics defying or extraterrestrial.

Mick West - How drunk would you get if you took a shot every time someone defended UFOs by citing "elite train fighter pilots" as if they were infallible and their word could never be doubted?

Great summary. The ‘collection bias’ aspect is well demonstrated by the drone saga at Gatwick. That led to a massive over-reaction and the cops arresting innocent people.

Mick is endlessly accused of disparaging professional military pilots by second-guessing a few of them, yet here is a report from their own institution of military professionals second guessing them. Gee, so I guess it turns out Mick wasn't committing some form of transgression after all.

Thank you Mick. We need more rational, cohesive, thoughtful commentary on the subject of UAP. Always appreciate your thoughts, opinions and insight.

I just put up a video about you today, predicting that they'll basically just say what you have been saying and that the news and media will be talking about it for a week. But I also talked about some of the parallels between the UFO culture and religion and the similarities therein. Have you thought of doing some videos on how similar to a newfound forming religion the UFO fanatics are? Perhaps you already have and I haven't seen it.

You are a major inspiration to me, and you helped me out of the rabbit hole. Thank you Mick.

I think it's a good preliminary report that tries to cover all its bases before it tries to tackle weirder stuff down the road..

Great work Mick! Now I can kind of say 'I read it'.. It's less dismissive than I thought it would be and generally a good report.

The operative word throughout this report is ‘appears’, i.e, looks odd but don’t know. Believers will likely ignore that word to ‘prove’ their case.

How weird would it be if you built advanced, specialized instruments for gathering data, sent them out to be used for thousands of hours in a variety of environments and conditions, and NEVER captured any ambiguous inputs?
