US sends more troops to Middle East amid Iran tension

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US will keep up the pressure on Tehran, but does not want war. The US Navy released new images which it said provide more evidence of Iranian involvement in the attacks last week on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Iran denies it is behind the attacks.

US, Saudi and Israel are trying their hardest to make one. Don't feed into that and give the idea credit. Iran wants nothing other than to be as sovereign as any other country is and that is their right.

The US can't easily fight a war with Iran - it's not a Gulf war scenario. Iran doesn't' want a war it's can't win. The US has imposed sanctions - but they're not working and never have. The next option is for teh US to use it's military, but there's no reason and it's not an easy quick win (in fact the US would suffer a lot of casualties which are unpalatable. All Iran needs to do (because it knows it can't' block the Gulf militarily and because if it did, the world would have a reason to act) is to take actions which are below the threshold that makes teh US act, but still cause Oil and gas prices to fluctuate and thus inconvenience to the World. The US troops stationed in the Gulf are symbolic - they can't' physically do anything offensive. All smoke and mirrors. I've lived in the region for 15 years, it's the same old games
