I want to replace a 6'x8' area carpet in my family room, which is over ceramic tile. I just want to use it as a decorative feature and I am tired of replacing the carpet every couple of years due to the cat's clawing. It is a well walked upon area. Would I have to use an adhesive and, if so, would it come up easily if the tile needed replacement.

Not if you install them wall to wall... I have my entire house done in them, and they never shift.. =)
