This is a fantastic video! I remember when Nikon released the Z mount, and their marketing focused on its size ('large mount = more light, ' something like that), making some questionable assumptions. But this—the minimal flange distance—this is what should have been promoted! It's incredible! I had no idea I could use E-mount lenses on a Nikon Z camera. I'm in the process of switching from DSLR to mirrorless, and I really appreciate this insight!

Thanks. This is a game changer for me. I gave up Nikon DSLR years ago and have been looking for a reason to adopt Nikon mirrorless.

Damn, bless YouTube algorithm for recommending your video to me! I was torn between choosing Nikon Z or Sony E to upgrade from my old Nikon D5100, and now, after finding from you out about the Sony E lens adapter for Nikon, it looks like I know the right answer!

Now I am even more tempted to pick up the Nikon Z6iii. I use the Sony A7S3, ZV-E1 and A7iv so I own a decent amount of E-Mount lenses. Great video Josh!

I pretty much only use Sony lenses on my Z8 and it works amazing. Thanks for the video.

I trained on Nikon film cameras back in the day. But I’ve been a Fuji shooter since 2017, and I still shoot the lovely X100V.

However, after becoming frustrated with Fuji’s auto focus system for my pro work, I recently sold off all of my Fuji lenses and bodies, and moved to a Nikon. At first I tried the Zf, which I LOVED but found the ergonomics to be not my cup of tea. Great camera, but I ended up trading it for a Z6III. Now I’m fully invested in the Z system. Next I actually want to get a little Z50II, as a camera that my girlfriend can also use. She is learning photography. I am loving Nikon and I’m glad I made the switch. Great lenses, great system, and the ability to adapt a variety of new and vintage lenses is just too cool.

Great video!

You can even adapt Fuji X lenses with the Boryoza FX-Z autofocus adapter. In theory you could adapt M4/3 too, and easily because is an open mount now

This very adapter tempts me to try Nikon for my next camera instead of buying another Sony. I need to watch and read more to make sure it’s reliable with all E-mount lenses. Super cool tech though!

Informative video for all those that weren’t aware. I’ve been adapting e mount lenses to z mount since the Z6, using the much older techart etz adapter. This was the reason that I stuck with the z mount and ditched my Canon EOS R. Now that Nikon has much more premium offerings on the table, I find myself adapting a lot less.

I recently got a Nikon zf and bought the Megadap adapter since I’m mainly a Sony shooter. I’ve found my Sony glass to work quite well during my portrait shoots. Even my sigma emount lenses have performed beautifully so seeing this lens gives me room for pause and consider trading my Sony a7rv for a z8. This is due in part to also doing video work as well

This is really helpful, and a topic I haven't heard discussed until now. You might have helped me make a major decision. Thank you!

I have the adapter as well. Coming back to Nikon from five years with Sony, so I have some lenses to use there.
But I must admit the Z mount lenses that I’ve bought so far have been super to the Sony lenses I’ve been using.
I have the legendary Tamron 35-150/2-2.8 E mount adapted to Nikon Z6iii and Z8 and it works like a native lens.
Also a Sigma 24-70/2.8.

When I switched from Fuji my main choices were Sony E or Nikon Z and Nikon won out in the end for their telephoto lineup and the fact I could mount almost any lens with adapter.
