JBTV Music Television welcomed Mikky Ekko to the stage to perform his distinctive blend of alternative indie pop. Mikky Ekko set the tone of the show with the passionate and deep track “Watch Me Rise.” Energy quickly picked up with the tune “Riot,” featuring loud, clashing drums. Next came “Time,” a delicate acoustic song, followed by the soothing dance pop vibe of “Love You Crazy.” He concluded the set with “Smile"--an uplifting crowd pleaser.

Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Mikko Ekko has been writing catchy pop songs since his career kicked off in 2008. His first EP Strange Fruit released in 2009, while follow-up EP’s Reds and Blues released a year later. The track “Who Are You, Really?” was played during the closing credits of HBO’s sixth season premier of “True Blood.” In 2012 he was featured on the Rihanna track “Stay,” which ranked number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His greatly anticipated debut LP Time came out on January 16, 2015.

Lyrics:

Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile

We're trying so hard to get it all right
But only feel lonely at the end of the night
I wanna be somewhere away from this place
Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace

I'll smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile
Smile

Well, call me loser, call me thief
Tell me I'm special when you spit at me
'Cause I don't wanna be lonely, I wanna be loved
And I want you to hold me like I'm the only one

I'll smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile
Smile

And time will eventually knock on my door
And tell me I'm not needed around anymore
But he'll hold me so close at the end of the day
When I'm quiet I can nearly hear him say

Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to turn, and we've got nothing but time
But the future is forever, the future is forever
So smile, so smile, so smile

Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
