I thought at first this guy couldn't be real but then I realised he was the absolute most genuine of them all, a heart wrenching vocalist who delivers country like there is no tomorrow. My all time favorite singer ever. Yay Dwight.

Dwight is not only a creative musician but has a tremendous knowledge of music history...every genre.

Here is what I love about your channel - you embrace all music. Clearly you have your own preferences, but you have everything from rock, to country, to bluegrass. Like a lot of us, we enjoy and can recognize the talent and hard work it has taken for a lot of these artists to get where they are and it is hard to not watch these without smiling and enjoying them. It is just as enjoyable, for me anyway, to watch your reaction and see the enjoyment on your face while you're watching these vids. It is the sign of a true, confident musician who can watch another musician and recognize and respect their talent instead of being threatened by it or post an "OH yeah, let me show you how to do it better." vids over and over. Kudos to you for that.

Dwight Yoakum is absolutely the King of Country, Country Western and Bluegrass combined. He stayed away from POP Country and stayed true. Love his music and always will. Thank you for analyzing him.

Love Dwight and his band. Flaco is a master of the accordion and a true Texas legend. Great video!

My go to Dwight song is "Thousand Miles from Nowhere". It resonates to some places I have been...

Dwight is one of the best voices in country. If you get a chance watch him sing a Buck Owen's funeral. Unreal!!

The great Flaco Jimenez could do a whole piece on him and his influence on country music.Dwight is one who has the old country style alive and gotten non country fans to like it.swimming pools and movie star was a bluegrass album that had some of the best bluegrass musician s on it, and featured a bluegrass version of Princes Purple Rain.

Just an impression perhaps, but if memory serves, Yokum was hitting it big in the industry about the same time mainstream Country was heading in the direction of “twang-Rock”. His own sound was (is) much more traditional. Just my opinion, but I’ll take the traditional sound any day of the week! Have you checked out The Mavericks at all? (They have a real fun version of “Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down.)

When Nashville lost the outlaw country artists to Austin, TX Buck Owens and Porter Wagner wound up in Bakersfield, California. I still remember the Porter Wagner Show on Sundays at 6pm rebroadcast on channel 47 out of Fresno. Dolly Parton was a back up singer for Porter. The next generation from this was Merle Haggard and Dwight and these guys were Ioved for their outlaw stance as well. Mr. Yoakum still performs today. I saw him at Hardly Stickley Bluegrass a few years back.
