By 2004, Kobe Bryant had established himself as one of the most talented and most popular players in the entire NBA. But youngsters such as LeBron James and rookie Dwight Howard—who were the top overall picks in the 2003 and 2004 NBA drafts, respectively—were hoping to chase him down to sit atop the NBA’s throne. In 2004 SP Authentic, Upper Deck included those players on a Signatures Triple card that was among the many highlights of the 15-card checklist. The product was very autograph heavy, with an average of two autos hitting per box, and one lucky collector found the Bryant/James/Howard Triple Auto that was numbered 15/15. With LeBron entering his 20th season and Howard hoping to find a new team to continue his career, it is still to be determined how their careers will measure up to Bryant’s. But no matter how that goes, these three NBA champions will forever be remembered through cards like this one.
