Northern Ethiopia on a Motorcycle - EP. 54

The moment I crossed the Ethiopian border I realized what a completely different world I'd just entered. This video is from the Northern part of the country which has insanely beautiful mountains. Gondar was the first city I visited and finally I had the opportunity to hang out with some travelers and have my first cold beer in ages!

The kids you gave candy too often said Ameseginalehu which means thank you in Amharic, one of the local languages in Ethiopia. The militia at the check point around the end of the video was asking for ID, not for money, he said she is a foreigner, let her go. He was actually being nice to you. Why did you assume he was asking for money when you were not sure that is what he was saying? Remember, you can ask folks nearby to help translate when language is an issue especially in rural communities instead of assuming you know what is being said.
