Ye Olde Mitre near Hatton Garden can trace its origins all the way back to 1546- but, despite being so well established, it can be a tricky place to find, for it's hidden in the middle of a long, narrow alleyway...

If you'd like to more more about Ye Olde Mitre- and other historic pubs in the City of London, then please be sure to check out my longer video:

A lovely pub. I cannot afford to drink in it but it's a beautiful place to visit.

Always liked the Mitre shaped sign on the old lamppost in Hatton Garden… it’s so cool!

The funny thing, though, is that 'ye' was never an English definite article. The 'y' was used to substitute for the letter þ, 'thorn', which is the 'th' sound. So 'ye olde' is just 'the olde'.

I was there for an hour or so 2 years ago when I visited London. They were getting rid of old pint glasses so I got myself 2 of them. Can't wait to go back. Nice pub to have a few.

I went to England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 with peasants; thus, I did not do the things I aspired to do. They wanted to do the dreaded hop on hop off bus🙀. I've never 👎🏽 done that in all my travels. They got Subway sandwiches for dinner last night in Edinburgh!!! I passed on that nonsense and let my stomach nurture my scone and cappuccino from the Scottish National Gallery. They went to the castle. I walked to the botanical gardens and then to the gallery. They went to Edinburgh castle yesterday by bus; I will walk there today. They are going to Holyrood by bus today. I want to go home😿. I have a lot of lovely photos, though.😻😽

It is the hardest to find but special mention to The Grenadier for running it close. I was lucky enough to visit on a rare Saturday opening in August when the society for Beer in the wood were having a mini beer festival.
