my experience is that it also helps with the "glue" factor making it all seems like it was recorded from the same source, but then in some genres it could sound funny, hiphop for instance, reverbered punchy kicks? unless its a sound design thing.. idk, as you said it all depends if the song calls for it.

Thanks such a great video, you said it right, just subtle enough to use reverb that when bypass, we feel something is missing and when we add it it feels right. Also did not know about putting it post limiting, will try it that way now on. True when you said, differs whether to use it or not from genre to genre and the audio content. I like it for orchestral, classical and cinematic works usually. i like Abbey road plates, also the input and output signal matters post putting the reverb to achieve what sounds best. And yes it is a psychoacoustic thing.

in which order do you add it? After all compressions? I'm looking for where to put it, but your mix sounds like spacious, did you compress it overall?

Interesting video mate. Can I play with adding reverb whilst mastering in iZotope elements I wonder? I am going to try and download it today.
After MANY years writing, I am only just stepping foot in the dark world of alchemy that is mastering.
I am using GarageBand, which is my first digital experience, as prior to that I was a tape guy! (Which was definitely warmer to my ears).
But, riddle me this. When I record a sketch from my studio just straight into my iphone (voice recorder placed on my desk).
The vocals and strings blend in a way that I have NEVER been able to simulate digitally? I think you are touching on this here with your 'unity'.
I would greatly appreciate your opinion mon ami, but perhaps this is simply because my iphone voice-recorder recording is mono. (Therefore it is mono from stereo?)
The recordings are so good, I am honestly thinking of doing an acoustic mix-down like this.
Best wishes to you from an English armour-maker in a French forest, and Happy New Year. ⚒️🎹🌞

For more precision you could only use that trick on the side informations
