How do I prevent my Windows VM from triggering an activation countdown?

The short version:

VBoxManage internalcommands sethduuid path_to_vdi

Be sure to use quotes around the path if it has special characters in it (like spaces). UUID will be generated and assigned.

Thanks so much! I was looking all over for this and I will add that if you want to clone an activated windows 10, windows 7 etc VM you must keep the *.vdi's UUID the same or else windows will complain that it is not genuine. I used this command: internalcommands sethduuid "TEST.vdi" and it succeeded... how's that for a "unique" UUID.
