I showed you in a recent video how you can replace Siri with the Google Assistant in iOS 13 on a jailbroken phone. Now in iOS 14 you can use some new options in settings to achieve this same thing without a jailbreak.

Make sure you subscribe for my full review of iOS 14 in the coming days.

Sick of iOS widgets not being interactive? Well I fixed that too.

This is not “Replace Siri with Google Assistant” this is “How to add a shortcut for Google Assistant”. Thanks for your video anyway.

To open assistant in listening mode. Go back to the shortcut click edit, then click add, then click on apps, then assistant and select Hey Google. This will add a second action to your shortcut. The shortcut will now open Assistant then run Hey Google when double/triple tap.

This works perfectly the first time. But for some reason, if you leave the app running in the background, double-tapping the second or third time doesn't run the hey google command. Maybe this is a bug with shortcuts or assistant. It's weird that it works the first time but not after that.

So there’s no way to make a shortcut that allows for when the user says “Hey Siri”, Siri opens Google Assistant instead?

Me: BACK TAP?! Siri: you don’t have back tap. You’re on an iPhone 7

There is no Back Tap feature under Touch on my Ipad. Is there a work around?

I want to make an app come up by holding down the power button. I have Siri shut off, had it that way for the past 3 and a half years. This is great for the double tap setting but I wish Apple would let me control what happens with when I hold down the power button too instead of Siri or nothing.

well this was somewhat point less if you use voice... still... you can tell siri to open google assistant and then use ok google to do whatever... its annoying but it works and doesnt need any configuration

This is a helpful video, but I have a MagSafe PopGrip, so back tap is cumbersome--I have to hit the exact right spot. My solution was to add the Google Assistant widget to Today View. Works flawlessly. Now I have two ways to open it.

Yours doesn’t open in listening mode I recommend having it open and listening mode to speed it up so you won’t have to press the button

After creating the shortcut and going to Back Tap > Double Tap, I'm not seeing the Shortcut section in there...

NOT Helpful. This doesnt really replace Siri at all. When im driving and activate voice command, siri still is the one that pops up~😣
