Nobody can sing grease songs like John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. After I graduated from high school. I must of seen grease over 100 times. It's my favorite movie of all time.

Aaron Tveit gave an incredible THEATER performance here. It was impossible to reproduce the film sequence in a studio like that because the shot itself is very intricate and full of details. It’s not that he was unable to replicate John Travolta’s level of surprise, it’s just that based on how the reveal is set up in a stage performance, it does not make sense. When you stop comparing the film to the live/on stage performance you see things objectively different, and I simply think he did a great job even trying to cater to the “people who only saw the film” audience, like myself, by adding some of Travolta’s contribution to the character in his embodiment of Danny Zucko.
Overall Aaron Tveit just did a hell of a performance and was extremely gorgeous as well. Julianne Hough, despite being a dancer first, did deliver potent vocals but it felt as if she was too worried about sounding in tune, so part of the excitement in her singing is unfortunately lost. I was very happy that she was cast as Sandy, because from the minute I saw her on Rock of Ages I thought she would be great as Sandy on a Grease adaptation. But overall this is a VERY GOOD performance!!! And it’s weird to see people going like “nobody does it like Travolta and ONJ” when they weren’t even the Original Danny and Sandy in the first place, and the film plays as if Grease was more of a Love Story than a musical about appearances, which it actually was, so a lot of important details are left nuanced…
