It’s not easy, admitting to yourself that your life is not a happy one, but that’s exactly what Park Dong Hoon (Lee Sun Gyun) has been forced to do. A middle-aged engineer working at a company where his college junior, Do Joon Yeon (Kim Young Min), is his boss, Dong Hoon is anything but happy. But that’s the least of his problems. With his two unemployed brothers living at him with his mother, he has to do what he can to help his struggling family, while trying to hold his own life together. Meanwhile, his wife and Joon Yeon are secretly having an affair.

As if life couldn’t get any more complicated or miserable, Dong Hoon soon finds himself entangled in a messy situation when one of his co-workers, Lee Ji An (IU) sees him accepting an unexpected bribe at work. Living with an invalid grandmother and drowning in debt, Ji An is drowning in her own miserable life so when the opportunity presents itself, she does what she can to try to make things better. Exploiting Dong Hoon in his moment of weakness, Ji An does what she can to make her life better but things don’t go the way she planned.

Caught up in a tangled web of personal struggles and internal corporate rivalry, Dong Hoon and Ji An find themselves fighting for the chance to make life better as they struggle to free themselves from their current misery and find a way to heal the wounds they each carry.

An emotional tale full of hurt, hope, and healing, “My Mister” is a 2018 drama directed by Kim Won Seok.

I think what I loved most about this ending scene was that during skip/catch up of everyone, you don’t actually fully see Ji-an. It’s always her back. It’s not until she finally meets Dong-hoon again do we get to see her face, but from his perspective. Almost as if the audience wasn’t really worthy to see her first again after the changes they’ve went through, but that Dong-hoon deserves to see her first the most. Out of everyone that could meet her again, it should be Dong-hoon. Especially because literally almost every moment until this scene, her face was the same harden, distant and cold expression. But now? Ji-an has changed and moved on from parts of her life and her face is almost new. Dong-hoon even days himself “I barely recognized you” emphasizing how much she has changed. Ji-an is peaceful after so long and it’s not the audience who gets to see her like that, but Dong-hoon. After all they’ve been through, it what they both deserve. Ji-an would be able to meet Dong-hoon on the streets again and greet happily, after finding comfort.

What made my cry when they saw each other again is the first time in the whole series Dong-hoon has a genuine smile across his face. Yeah he smile a a bit but there was mostly sadness. Here you can the happiness in his face when he sees Ji-an. And the thought of what they went through and endured to get to this point had me balling my eyes out.

The fact that he initiated the handshake hehehe I love how the ending shows much they've healed, matured and tried to be happy on their own. I think he loved her more than he realised himself and this time away from her probably showed him just how much. He isn't the type to cry so when he does, you know it's serious. These little details they put in the drama is crazy. That first episode was so uncomfortable because I could feel the intensity and that's so crazy. 10/10 my most emotionally gripping drama to date and I hope people love it and see how much relationships are important.

i love how the full circle is complete. At the beginning Dong Hoon was the one trying to reach out Ji An. Then the ending shows that Ji An was the one who recognised and reached out Dong Hoon (she knows his voice in her heart)

You can see how proud he is in his smile when Ji an offered to buy dinner for him. Its heart warming.

While his character showed compassion, love and care to IU's character in the show, there was no one beside him in real life when he needed that support the most. Even if he committed a crime/bring shame, he didn't deserve to take his own life. Korean law, the media and toxic people cost this mister's life. RIP Lee Sun Kyun. I hope you show the same love and caring to the people above as you did in My Mister.

Am I the only one who keeps dying inside seeing how hard he held her hand?? 😭♥️ How the tips of his finger become white from the pressure and when he lets go you can see his fingers imprinted in red for a couple of seconds.. This detail kills me every time 💓😭😍🤩

I cried so many times throughout this drama, and the ending was very satisfying. I've never seen a show which compares on this kind of emotional level. It was written and performed so beautifully

This ending is a masterpiece and very poetic. The cinematography on this show is top notch. It started very dark(lighting wise) which describes the emotional state of the leads. The bright sun, flowers, spring and even IU’s clothing on the ending radiates a new beginning, happiness, contentment and peace. What a show!
