The Aswang came to be during the introduction of Catholicism to the Filipino people. It was said that during a construction of a chapel at the foot of a mountain, the Aswang appeared on the tree next to the construction site. The chapel was relocated under the tree surrounding it, hence, the Aswang ended up being trapped in this realm, unable to return to wherever it's from. It's been trapped in this world ever since and created it's own kind as well. 😮
