Great video. In my very, very limited experience, unsoaked rice will sink. It seemed to sink at about the same rate you got in your cooler. I have some ability to control water levels in one of my holes so I left a few inches of water in it, threw out the rice in the water and then drained in 2 days later. The areas with good clear bottom germinated pretty well.

If you get a trail cam with a time lapse feature, you can set it to take pictures on a schedule you define and not have to rely on the deer. I’ve done this the last two years all through the season. Helps with scouting because I can see every day if ducks are coming to my hole.

I've read you can grow rice in standing water. Our problem is we have an oxbow lake and we aren't able to control the water levels and it usually holds at last 8-10 inches at all times. Looking for something to plant in it though.

What’s your opinion on rice I live in south Mississippi and I was thinking about planting in the marsh but I’m just worried about the salt do u think it will kill it or what ?

How many years have you been planting rice? Has any of it replanted itself or volunteered? I’m I’m in Rockingham County north of Greensboro and I’m really wanting to plant native wild rice and I’m curious if it’s something I’ll have to do ever year or will it some of it sprout on its own. I know we’re close to being to far south for the water to stay cold enough long enough for the seed to germinate.
