This is the very best presentation about school reforming I have ever seen in my life. It touched me to tears. What an amazing, kind and humble person. This is true love.

According to Mr. Mitra -- the future of learning is not a competition -- it's asking great questions and encouraging the answers. He reminds us that the most profound ideas are often the simplest. Thank you, Mr. Mitra.

This talk makes me think of the Khan Academy, a website that has a bunch of different curricula that anyone is free to study from.

I'm currently studying math on that site. I did really bad in math classes in secondary school, but I'm hoping that learning it at my own pace will help. I have ADD, so school tends to be really hard for me; I tend to learn better when I'm studying on my own since I can take breaks when I need to and don't have to worry about stressful tests and quizzes while I'm trying to learn.

I guess what I'm saying is that this kind of school could also be very helpful for adults, not just for children. Some of us don't do very well in a traditional school but learn very well in a self-directed environment.

I hope that this kind of school becomes established. In fact, I hope that this idea of self-directed education becomes more widespread. It's a very valuable idea for the future of education.

Loved this talk! Love the wise man!
He literally answered all the questions I had on this topic about "boring education" and "lack of motivation".
I kept smiling all the way through the video out of delight and enjoyment.
I want Sugata Mitra and Salman Khan to be a ministers of the education in the world, because they not only know what they are doing, they also love it!

I'm revisiting this video
with a co-learning person
for about the 8th time,
8 years later,
it still brings tears to my eyes.

Excellent talk!  I completely understand this teaching method.  I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY as an adult.  Problem, research, solution.  Not Problem, go to school to learn 10, 000 useless things barely associated with my problem, focus group, solution.  Collaboration, idea sharing toward a common goal...great stuff.

As a father to 3 young children Im beyond inspired. I’ve been a big critic of our education system but haven’t had a solution. This is the solution.

An exciting concept for learning in the 21st century, "a school in the cloud."  Found Mr Mitra's talk inspiring and entertaining. As a retired teacher and grandma I endorse the fact that the best learning happens when students are inspired, encouraged, and praised for their curiosity and discovery. Modern day technology inspires excitement to learn.  An engaging teacher /facilitator/grandma is an important part of the process.

This is an amazing proposal! I truly enjoyed this TED TALK and its radical view of education. As a secondary school teacher, my feeling is that before we built the School in the Cloud, we need to reimagine our schools. We should be there to provide a positive environment rather than threatening children with exams and distrust. After all, exams are too frequently a way to instil fear. Surely we should start by celebrating our students and facilitating their learning. We only prepare them for this every day more uncertain world if we teach them how to think for themselves!

We are looking at the man who is changing the world right now. This guy must be mentioned in text books of future. Oh wait, but will there be text books if there wont be any schools! :) :) Anyway, if every teacher and parent on earth listens to Sugata, the world would be drastically better place in no time, i don't care if you agree with me or not.

One of the best TED talks i've ever seen. Understood current education from the scratch. I & my friends have always been complaining about "EDUCATION SYSTEM" but he approached it very sophisticatedly..

30 years ago, University of Georgia's science education philosophy was to capture the imagination of middle school learners (especially females) by making science hands-on and fun. Every year since then, I've incorporated ideas and activities to achieve this goal. SOLE is yet one more way to capture the minds of our youth.

This is unbelievable, we are really fortunate with such important information we need to keep with time and as S Mavrodi says we are living in the world that is unfair and unjust. The cloud school is a sound idea because the syllabus is not moving with this technological time we live in. We will be lead by greatest of them all leaders who are all ready bringing a true change in all of our lives. We are forever grateful.
