Alexander Hamilton is the reason I am here in America today.

My Grandmother's Great x5 Grandfather was a Hungarian born Hessian Soldier who fought for the British at Yorktown. He was captured at Redoubt #10. He was held as a POW for nearly 4 years and missed his units shipment away from America. With no reason to leave and every oppurtunity to make a life for himself That Great 5x Grandfather wound up staying in Virginia, changed his name from the Hungarian one to an anglicized name belived to be Turnipseed, which later a couple generations later changed back to Reapsummer (an anglicized version of the Hungarian name), another 2 generations later that family relocated to Northeast Ohio and 1 final generation later married into the Reedy Family.

So Thanks Alex

Fun Fact: Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr both attended the same Independence Day dinner the night before the duel. During the party Aaron Burr was withdrawn despite him having usually been extremely social and Alexander Hamilton enthusiastically sang a war song.

Chris, I started binging your content last week. Inspired by you, I went digging into my family history for the 1st time. I thought you’d be intrigued to know that today, I learned that my paternal grandmother’s ancestors were the Radcliffe’s, who served as Earls of Sussex from 1483-1643, including my distant grandfather Robert Radcliffe, the 1st Earl of Sussex, who assisted in presiding over the coronation of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Robert is also the one who proposed to the Privy Council that Henry Fitzroy should advance to the throne. I never would have known this without your inspiration! So thank you!

I grew up thinking that Hamilton was my 6th great granduncle—my aunt told me that when I was around seven. In researching my family genealogy, I found out that there is an Alexander Hamilton in that position on the tree. But, he’s not THE Alexander Hamilton—ours was born in Pennsylvania in the mid 1770s. Oh, well! At least that’s straightened out now.

Hamilton is the most underrated founder, even after his recent resurgence.

Hamilton has always been my favorite of the founding fathers. Good to see you covering him on the channel.

That intro was amazing, I've been waiting for you to cover more of the presidents. Your content is more binge able than any Netflix series I've ever seen. And I actually learn things hahaha Thank you for what you do

Bro, neither you nor Simon discussed Alexander's hip hop career that he used for telling his story throughout his political career.

The old video of You going over the Hamilton musical song by song is one of my favorite videos from you. And I’m so glad we got more Hamilton content now. Such a fascinating historical figure

I really enjoy it when you passionately explain more about a historical person/topic and then the video confirms your points. It shows comprehensive understanding of (and passion for) the subject matter.

You mentioned National treasure, I like those movies despite them being sort of ridiculous. Would be interesting to see a series analyzing the history they talked about in that film.

I only watched the Hamilton Musical for the first time last year in October in Hamburg, the first show of it they put on in Germany.
It was GLORIOUS.

Hi, Chris, that was very interesting and I learnt a lot. Your reactions are always interesting because whether you're talking about American history, British history, European history or any other history your enthusiasm is obvious to anyone watching. Simon Whistler's Biographics channel is very good I hope you do more.

Dang I thought I got the beginning of Hamilton out of my head but not anymore. Thank you Chris! :) Also fun fact about Hamilton during the war, the battery that he commanded was the New York Provisonal Company of Artillery. Even though the unit was disbanded, the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, which is now apart of the famed 1st Infantry Division, traces it's lineage and history back to the New York Provisonal Company. In fact the unit insignia for the regiment is the crest of the Hamilton family

We have a tradition at Rutgers University in New Brunswick that Hamilton’s battery was stationed on the “Old Queen’s” campus. (The name change from Queen’s College to Rutgers occurred in the 1820’s after Henry Rutgers donated $15k and a bell hoping that his will would give them an inheritance, which never happened.)

I find it very amusing that all of Phillip Schuyler’s daughters eloped… except Elizabeth. Alexander was the only guy who actually got permission to marry a Schuyler sister.

A historian with roots tracing back to the American revolution, reacting to a video by a Brit, about a US founding father. God bless teh interwebz.

Pretty sure I’d have learned more if this was 100% your original content, your sidebars on these reactions are so interesting.

I love the extra info your reactions give. Really highlights the topic even more and often adds some melancholy when going into personal life details
