Wallace And Gromit Alive On Stage In A Grand Night Out: Lost Footage

Blue Peter did a segment on the production back in 1997, I remember it vividly. It showed the cast in their costumes (I remember Feathers McGraw particularly freaking me out as a child!). I'm not sure where you could locate the segment, but this production certainly did happen!

Finally! I've looked on youtube before for any footage or any videos at all of this and never found any. Just searched for it again after going down memory lane and lo and behold i find your video.

I went to see A Grand Night Out at the Birmingham REP when i was about 7. I loved / still love W&G, it was a huge part of my childhood and later lead me to discovering Aardman and all their other work, so you can imagine how excited i was to see these characters come to life on stage.

It's hazy, i remember bits and pieces and like you say there's absolutely no footage to be found anywhere online. But i remember that it was a kind of mish mash of all 3 of the stories, i remember the actor that played Wallace marching around the stage in his techno trousers and they had the original sound effects from the films. I remember everyone booing the penguin when he came out, and i remember they had built the bed contraption and i'm sure it tilted as well. The main thing i remember is being extremely excited, i had a W&G pyjama top that i had worn countless times and the vinyl print on it had started to crack and fade, but i remember my mum suggesting i wear it on the day and i just had to.

Good memories, maybe someone that has some footage sees this video. I know if i saw some footage it would probably all come flooding back.

I WAS DOING RESEARCH ON THIS IN EARLY 2020. I was able to strike up a conversation with the actress that played Feathers, and I created a doc with all of the findings I had. I was going to make a whole YouTube video on it, but I had other opportunities at the time that prevented me from looking further + I ended up deleting my twitter account. 💀
