NHL 25 Review

There’s no denying that the action on the ice looks better than ever in NHL 25. And it’s nice to see Franchise Mode get some welcome changes to add authenticity for lovers of the mode. But this year's iteration is quite lackluster as a whole, and feels like more of the same as last year yet again. For being the first NHL game available exclusively on current-gen consoles, it’s a shame that NHL 25 is still stuck in the same last-gen rut.

The game died when they lost the NBC presentation. The game is just an after thought and a cash grab now. When you had Doc doing the pre-match and pre and post game presentation, it seemed like it was a proper TV presentation. Now, its lifeless.

If it's that hard to add depth, they should release a game every 2 or 3 years. People won't waste money on almost the same thing every year, and the developers can focus on updating the current game (player stats, bug fixes, etc.) until the new one is exactly what the fans deserve.

It's no coincidence that once EA introduced microtransaction's, the quality of the gameplay went downhill steadily ever since. Like most of their games

It’s actually laughable that people still buy these games at full price year after year. It’s too bad EA doesn’t care about the NHL franchise and just recycles the same trash every year and we just have to accept it since there’s no competition.

Hockey has so much potential to make for an amazing sports game, imagine a story mode like mighty ducks or slap shot, with a Chel or threes mode like the old Hitz games from Midway, you can’t tell me people aren’t going to buy a game like that.
