In this video, I have some updates on the legality of commercial filming in national parks. There's now an option for you to do it without a permit. Will the EXPLORE Act ever get passed?

I can't imagine how much time you must have invested in research in order to explain this issue so well. Hell, I can't imagine how much time just to write the script, much less perform and edit the whole thing into a concise presentation. Thank you soooo much for keeping us informed in such a factual and proffesional way.

Thank you so much for covering this issue Jason! I clicked and watched the link you provided in your video description area that takes you to the Blue Ribbon Coalition (4) person panel discussion of the National Park Filming Law issues. WOW! It was a very complete and fantastic explanation of how we got to where we are right now.. I have taken your suggestion to join the coalition to become part of the folks involved in the "Filming Permit Injunction" they currently have secured for Coalition Members. Sounds like the best way to protect one's self while all these legal challenges are being worked on. EXCELLENT reporting as usual.

Skip to 8:35 for the "workaround" (if you can call it that) everything else before that is a re-hash of the explore act / current restrictions. Pay to play is not going to fly, you cant allow one private group to do something and not everyone else on pubic lands.

The Feds need to get it together. Every park has its own rules and laws. It’s getting way too complicated. And I must have missed something. I thought Congress made laws not individual government entities. You do a REAL good job and give a lot of information

Thank you so much Jason for telling of this news about you can film at National Parks again. I love when you tell the news and information. Hope you and Abby and your family have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving. 🦃🍁

Thanks again for the info Jason. My personal opinion is that MOST National Parks are not even worth visiting to much BS. I have my memories. But I do think that I will donate to the Blue Ribbon Coalition.

Thank you for keeping us up to date! The research hours had to be extreme at this point.

I forgot about this! We just took some great footage at White Sands of the family sledding down the dunes… guess I can’t use it! Thanks for the video.

I got verbal permission to video in Big Horn National Recreation Area and published my video on YouTube. I took the video down because if anyone from the National Parks Administration was to come after me for the video they would ask to see proof of my permit. With verbal permission you have nothing to back yourself up and could face a huge fine.

I suggest you check out the controversial new Washington State Parks cancellation policy. The earlier you made a reservation, the more you are penalized for cancelling. We reserved several parks last January for an August trip, then had an RV transmission issue and had to cancel in July. They held back ~ 80% of the reservation fee!

It's taxpayers land, pictures and video should be free for all individuals who are American citizens. No permits or fees of any kind ever. 🇺🇸

We had been debating joining and went ahead when we heard about the filming pass for being a member. I hope to have my video about tracing where our great great grandfathers fought at Gettysburg available next week.

At only $5 a month, it’s temporary insurance to be a part of the injunction, until everything hopefully goes away. I’m going to post video now from National parks. Thank you for this valuable info.

We have done several videos on this very subject. It is so frustrating. Yes, photography is a different story than video. Ugh. This is such a touchy topic. Thank you for covering it! - Jim & Michelle

Thank you for sharing this! I've been waiting on the Senate to take up the Explore Act, but I suspect that everything got held up with the election cycle. Hopefully it will be passed early next year. It took very little time for the House to vote in favor of it on a bipartisan basis.

Thank you, Jason. I’ll keep it short to the point most of the time our government just sucks.

Being a lifetime BRC member this is awesome news.
Not that I seek monetization of my videos, I just want to share the awesomeness of our public lands... w/o having to seek permission to do so. Old archaic laws need to be updated (like the explore act) or eliminated entirely.
Repeal the (agency) laws by legislation, as that's how laws are "supposed" to be enacted in the first place (legislatively, not agency enacted)

I was actually just thinking about this last week, so glad to see the update. Thank you.
