These are the suggested solutions for the 2023 VCAA VCE General Maths Paper 2 exam which was sat in October 2023.

I am not affiliated with VCAA and have no prior or inside knowledge into the actual answers. These are my suggestions and I might have made occasional errors in trying to complete these too quickly. Any errors will be shown below.

Please don't ask me if any answers you put will be accepted or get you marks. I simply won't be able to tell you. If there are "interesting" questions, we will NEVER know which answers were accepted and which were not. Sorry. I wish I could be more help.

Errata:
13b: Should have a route and not the distance. I'll update the video with the correct answer to this.

Only found your channel about a couple days before the multi choice exam, but I genuinely think in that time you've gotten me atleast another 10 marks I wouldn't have otherwise. I only wish I found this page sooner. Cheers for all the help bossman

Thanks for the content maffs guru, I think I got around 90% on this exam which I’m happy with considering it was harder than the multi choice and I only got 80 on that. This is probably the end of the road for me watching your great maths videos but of course I will stay subbed 😉 and let more people know about your channel. The year 12 teachers at my school all recommend your content and for good reason, you helped me and my friends so much. Keep doing what you do, and don’t have any heart attacks when you blow up.

Thank you so much, Maffs Guru. I don't usually leave comments, but I felt obligated to. I only found out about your channel two weeks before the multiple choice component (Paper-A), yet I can confidently claim that, you've increased my marks by at least 10% since then. l'll be sure to recommend you to the upcoming year twelves, thank you once again!! :)

Hey Darren, just finished my year 12 further course. I’d like to thank you for carrying me through this exam period and teaching me most of what I applied on my exam. Our journey together might be over but I’ll for sure recommend you too my friends and family. All the best

13C There is an algorithm and it makes it a lot easier. You simply note all the odd vertices. Then, if she is to travel all roads it is Eulerian and if she starts and ends at different vertices then it means you need 2 odd vertices. So as there are 6 odd vertices, you need to link 2 pairs and make them even. start at G, which isolates H as an odd vertex. So it must be L and N, M and J that you need to travel twice. Hence make them even vertices when you travel them twice.

You’re a true legend, carried me thru maths this year

Question 11, why does the 9 need to be removed from leavers? The question did not specify the leavers having to be removed so would 9 0 not be the intended answer?

Thanks for sharing, sadly misinterpreted the "feature of this plot that is consistent with this time series having a seasonal component" because I said Irregular fluctuations 😢. Thought it meant what else is consistent with it being seasonality. Really bummed about that, but gonna focus on other exams now.

Not sure if this has been said, but for question 13c, you can find all the odd vertices. Repeating the edges makes those vertices even.

Question 10, reminds me so much of a programming problem early in my career. It was about state transitions. The answer was to build that kind of matrix.

It was so reassuring to go through this today and get some explanations for the questions I was lost on. Thank you for helping me clarify my understanding, I feel so much better now :)

for question 13, i made the diagram an eulerian circuit by adding edges to the odd vertices J and M and L and N since you know it can't be G (obviously the multiple edges is equal to the path being travelled along twice)

Question 13b, it asks for the route not the minimum distance.
