That's a perfect Biblical lecture by Dr. Otabil. We really need knowledge as Christians. God bless him. Indeed, The Bible is the ultimate Word of God and the universal reference point for every believer. It's timeless; as it has been, so it shall be. But at every point in time, the believer needs a word from God that is timely and personal. Because the very truth is that the Bible as both historical and prophetic speaks relatively more about the Jews, though they're all for our learnings and encouragement so that we too might have hope. But the progressive and dynamic nature of the world demands that we get "The now word of God" for every point in time. Some things may not be explicitly related to the Bible, that may not mean they're false. If they're truly genuine, they will in one way or the other have allusions to biblical texts.
I'm saying this so that we won't downplay the relevance of the timely word and directives of God even through His Prophets. God bless His Church. Amen 🙏

As soon as you see your experience as something absolutely new without any bearing to the scripture, bros just know that you are treading on high way😊

Solid foundational preaching lecture. Everyone who has been to a sound seminary understands what he is saying. I would however argue as a continuationist that although scriptural revelation (canon of scripture) is closed, which most Charismatic and Pentecostals adhere to, there is still an ongoing work of the Holy spirit through prophecy. This modern prophecy or revelation is not on the same level as scriptural revelation which is closed and it is subject to test since it can be interpreted wrongly (1 Thes. 5:20-21).
In short, I don't think the average Pentecostal or Charismatic believes the canon of scripture is not enough. On the contrary, it is sufficient for life and godliness. What the prophets call revelation (because it is revealing) complement but not compete with scripture. It is God providing timely, personal or situational guidance for the church or individuals.
