For me the FD is the easiest to tune and i don't have such issues the gap is wide enough for the chain to move throughout the casset without touching the FD cage ends. FD gives me more leverage it makes a decent bike good. I can go fast and i can go very slow too :).

"extra weight" yeah weight you wouldn't even notice that was missing. Removing around 1-2 lbs (453 grams - 907 grams) from the drivetrain is barely noticable if at all. Now if it was removing around 10 lbs then yeah, youd notice. The only way you'd noticed that little bit of weight being removed if that weight was in the wheels (more specifically the outer ring and or tire).

The front derailleur isnt any nore difficult to adjust than the rear derailleur.

The front derailleur is actually good for chain retention.

Ive never really seen a front derailleur fail.

Front derailleur's are a nightmare, so antiquated I got a 1x9 specialized, 1 big thing to worry about, less the cabling, no gear changer and no problem.

I have had 1 by 2 by and 3 by and still i liked my 2006 ghost mtb with 3x9 the best XD

Nah 3x is king instead of climbing chains and building tension when you shift down, you can just shift down on the front and release tension instead

Up to you, but I am right now looking for new trail bike, looking for such model that not only suits me but give additionally give ability to install FD like for example Shimano fd-m7100;

I half agree with the adjusting part, my front derailleur wouldn't switch to the biggest ring and it took me like 3 hours to get it right

Leave them for Road and gravel. And then do friction!

I'm glad I'm not the only having problems with the front derailleur I thought it was just my bikes quality but I managed to tune it but not I only have access to 2 out of 3 front gears on my bike

I just discovered that two of my chainring bolts had come off and the remaining three were loose. I very nearly had no front derailleur - it certainly didn't work well! No cycling until the replacements arrive.

Fd is the best you just don't know how to properly maintain a bike I go off big jumps little jumps do wheelies endos bunny hops and my fd is still great because, I can shift higher and lower gears faster it still shifts gears in under a second 😂
