When I listen to Rachel Zegler's descriptions of the 1937 movie I'm skeptical that she's studied and grasps the historical context of either the 1812 fairy tale or 1937 movie. Snow White is a story of cruel loss beyond one's control, acceptance of the current state thus finding and giving others joy in the smallest things, and because of that ability to accept the present having an eventual return to physical and emotional prosperity. It's a story of hope led by a woman. If one doesn't understand what was happening in America and the world at the time that's lost on them.

The name Snow White refers to the color of the skin of the main character - back then having darker skin was a sign of a peasant as they spent whole days outside in the sun and so if you were the nobility, you didn't want to be tanned and wanted to have the skin as white as possible. They even wore gloves in the summer. Casting someone who's not super white (preferably very pale too) is just going against the title of the story.
Btw, the Disney's Snow White from the 30s doesn't wear long sleeves, that's also an anachronism for the same reason.
