As I advocate for India's mental health reform, I watched this clip on 'Mental Health Tips'. Based on their discussion, it seems the two ladies focused on Self-Love and Self-Esteem. However, their conversation does not echo the struggles of countless children of middle-class and underprivileged Indian families. My heartfelt plea to these influential voices is to delve deeper into the painful realities of dysfunctional families, domestic abuse and the devastating impact of child abuse in all its forms including physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional/psychological abuse ( intimidation, isolation, manipulation ), neglect, medical abuse etc.

To educate the Indian masses, we need more than just celebrity media clips. There is a pressing need to increase Marriage and Family Therapists in hospitals. Additionally, ASHA and Anganwadi workers must be trained to identify mental disorders and dysfunctional families.

Therefore, not only must celebrity small-talk in media improve, but the mental health system, research, and education must also be immediately improved and expanded. The mental health situation of the entire nation is poor compared to other developed nations. Even after diagnosing 'all mental patients' in India, the country still won't be safe, just as the USA is not safe. Only when psychopaths are also diagnosed can one expect India (and the world) to be safe. However, the definition of psychopaths is still unclear. Additionally, diagnosis is vague and subjective. Hence, we hope Indian psychologists, doctors, and scientists will conduct research on psychopathology (group, individual, etc.) as well.
