I think the piece of the linebacking core that I was excited about last year that's missing this year is Brian Flores. Having him as a position coach was OP, and I think he helped get the most out of the guys we had. He seemed well liked also.

Myles Jack and as someone else mentioned Brian Flores last year had me excited. But two years in a row of watching our ILB get toasted makes me happy we changed just for the sake of change at this point. Hope Neal can come in and be the coverage LB and the new guys can play Bully ball against the run all day long.

Last year felt better on LB.

But I like the CBs we have picked up when you combo LB+CB. It's yet untested: JPJ is big, like good matchup on Andrews, Kelce, and Njoku big. When you get longer bigger CBs in the mix, you relieve your LBs a little on coverage duties. Equally Nick Herbig will play this part well if he ends up LB and not edge.

I'll say this, based on those listed names being compared frm last yr to to this yr; the Steelers at least know what types they want at ILB. Seeing that made me more confident than before watching this video. Production will be better, but I wish we were a little more intentional with addressing the position. Just feels like we cheaped out.

From 2019-2021 Kwiatkoski had an avg. PFF coverage grade of 69.5. So he, Holcomb and Muse should be solid in coverage according to PFF. Add Keanu Neal and our ILB coverage should be fine.

Ask me this 3 weeks ago and I'd say last year. But I'm getting excited about what I've heard from reports regarding Mark Robinson in OTAs. He reminds me of a more athletic version of Vince Williams. I know it's early, but his year 2 progression could be drastic. I expect his role in our defense to be expanded, and I wouldn't be surprised if he became a starter at some point.

This New ILB is Brings Physicality to the Steelers 2023 Defense which the 2022 Defense Lacked! There were games when the Ravens, Patriots, and Browns ran the ball down our Throats. This will not Happen with this Group of ILBS. And Roberts and Holcomb wore the Green Dots which equates to HIGH FOOTBALL IQ which is lost in the Narrative. And with Kenea Neal we will play the 3 Safety Package which will negate the lack of Pass Coverage from the ILB Room. This new ILB Room is far more Athletic than 2022 ILB's.
