Important Papers covers various chemical reactions, mechanisms, and research papers in the field of organic chemistry, providing examples and explanations for each research paper.

In this video, I discuss five important papers in organic synthesis that were published around June and July 2023.

Make sure you share this series with other chemists in your network, especially ones who don't usually watch YouTube!

I want to thank Maurice Hietkamp for his help with this episode :)

I'm writing my thesis on TB so an extra example of recent developments of TB-drugs was very welcome! Thanks always for the great summary <3

Thank you so much for highlighting our work of HF-free fluorination using CaF2, really appreciate it! - Calum Patel

I didn't understand any of this, but its nice to hear someone explaining something in a way where its not dumbed down for normies like me to understand

The new chemical/radiolytic Catalysis techniques are so cool. It's good quantum chemistry finally has a purpose lol.

More relevant to past videos than this one, but your videos have been so entertaining and educational. I took the MCAT recently and spent the day before binging your channel and ended up getting over a dozen additional questions correct because you went over those topics (reagents, mechanisms, biochem stuff). Thanks so much

As a former graduate student that might go back to school for PhD Organic Chemistry, these videos are super useful in knowing what kind of projects I'd like to do or learn someday. Thanks!

Not a chem student so I always just skipped these vids, decided to watch one and am actually enjoying it. Gonna go back and watch some of the others, the tierlist brainrot got to me

Please make a video on minerals like you did with vitamins. I found it very interesting and I think many people would find it helpful. Big fan please make it into a video🙏🏼

The strong urge, as a future chemistry major, to watch these videos, not understand a single word, and get discouraged by the sheer magnitude of what I have to learn.

3:00 for the memes, you should have talked about cubane in the Reaxsys spot.

HF isn't all that bad, IF its aqueous. Its only when you move to the anhydrous stuff that it becomes...interesting... to work with. Of the many fluorinating reagents I used, DAST was the best but also almost comically agressive reagent. Brings back memories!

I'm but a humble structural biologist so some of this is a bit above my head, but its so cool you do these academic review videos! I always found organic chemistry so facinating as a subject in school, atomic legos!

I enjoyed this, a nice look into new things Most people dont talk about :)

Key chiral intermediate in beraprost synthesis is not Corey lactone. It is lactone version of Aggarwal enal.

Perhaps someone could demonstrate the synthesis of TBI-223 in the future?

How can you draw space filling 3D models of molecules? This is a bit of a random question but i just watched an old Video of your channel and thought they were really nice and wanted to know how you did them.
I'd also like to say thank you for the great content you are providing, these monthly paper reviews help me to inspire ideas for my own phd projects.
