The biggest reason I've seen is because they don't know marketing. The put up a shop and then wonder why they haven't had sales. Every business has to market, to point people towards their Etsy shop.

Every day on the Etsy forums, you will see posts that say, "I've had my shop for 2 months now, why haven't I had a sale?"
This happens in a lot of careers where people are responsible for their own success. They wonder why they haven't made any money, but are not utilizing any social media or advertising to bring in business.
Everyone knows Walmart, so why does Walmart still put out tv and print ads, have their 18 wheelers withe the name Walmart on it?All businesses have to advertise and keep their brand in front of people.
Yet people, especially on Etsy, open a shop and think they're just going to sit back and wait for someone to buy something.

Great tips for sure. I made SO many mistakes when I first started on Etsy and I had no idea why I wasn't selling. The most important thing is to not give up and keep implementing strategies to improve. Great advice :)

I just discovered your channel and I'm watching all of the videos. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to stand out in the baby onesie niche to grow a business. My shop on Etsy is @CutiePieBabyShopUSA just over a week old now with three sales. I use ads but once I changed the budget the ad views on my listings went from thousands to almost none, which confuses me.

At 60 I think I'm a little old to take in al the advice available, although I do get some sales and wonderful feedback from customers. It's just a case of not reaching enough customers. I only have between 50- 60 views 20 - 30 visits per day and out of that I average 1 sale per day. My items go from $7 - $95. I know my products are very sellable but still not quite sure how to improve visits and sales. I read that if you keep updating the SEO then you will have drastic reductions in views and visits, at least for a while. Still a mystery to me.I found the cheapest and easiest product I have has the most sales. This product also has the highest margins at around 700% so I'm planning to do more of this in future. Still learning as I go but I do love using Etsy and I still believe I can improve in future. Is it true that 99% of Etsy sellers give up?

Thank you for this vid! It's easy to get unmotivated when you expect it to be so easy as listing items and expecting them to sell automatically. Once you change your expectations and realize it's normal to put a ton of work to get the results you want, you stop being negative and just focus on the work to get where you want to be. I definitely thought it would be easy, but if it was, no one would have a "real" job and everyone would just be selling on Etsy! lol. Only the people who don't give up succeed. I've heard of ppl where it took 3-5 years to get a livable income but they made it because they stuck it out while others gave up.

Thank you so much for making these tutorials! I have not been doing the correct research and not using Etsy's platform in the correct way. This has fueled my interest. I was absolutely getting concerned in being part of a saturated niche but this i am now determined more then ever to use the inter-webs tools to continue on this path.

I don't see any videos on shopping on etsy. Well bad experiences or any videos of shopping on etsy. I ordered an item waited for about a week to be shipped. The seller finally shipped it and said I can track it and gave me links to where I can go, but no tracking number. I waited until the estimated time frame and still waited a week later after that. I then sent the seller a message which I waited another week with no response. Then I went to their shop and it's gone! Today I finally opened up a case and I'm hoping I can get my money back. I'm confused how I would even get my money back if the shop is gone there is no other listings from them and no way to find their shop. I can still send them a message and it still shows the name of the shop, but nothing else. I have no idea how I will even get my money back. This has never happened to me and I'm surprised I don't see someone on YouTube talking about it. 😧

Awesome videos! My current obstacle is my SEO. I've always had a hard time with this, but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...go figure! I'm using Marmalead so I know which terms are trending, and SEO Book is a great tool as well. Just activated Promoted Listings as you suggested. Hope it'll work !! Do you think it's necessary to renew listings often if you're already doing promoted listings? What's more efficient? Thanks! Véro
